When do I ov?

OK - I need your help working out when in the cycle I am most likely to ovulate. I have PCOS and have just completed my 3rd cycle of Clomid.
As I have PCSo I cannot use OV kits or saliva tests to work out when I OV and I'm not sure I can rely on mucus watching either?

Basically, the propblem is that my cycles have got considerably shorter since the 2nd course of Clomid - at the same time my periods have got longer. Which actually means my period lasts till CD11 and then I come on again around CD25. Woud this mean I still Ov around cd14 or not????

Why is this so complex? One day i will have a body that acts the way it's supposed to!

your cycle is calculated from the first day that you bleed it doesn't relly matter how long you bleed for so the first day of bleeding is day 1. A textbook cycle of 28 days would mean you would ov day 14 but your cycle is around 24 days ( from day 1 of bleeding to the next day 1 of bleeding).this means that you are likely to be ovulating around day 10 of your cycle even if you are still bleeding.HTH and isn't too confusing. I also have PCO so i know what its like with these unpredictable cycles.

ooh didn't know you could OV while still bleeding, never really thought of that. Not sure how I feel about the whole idea of 'activity' (as my Consultant would say!) during that time......

Will make sure we do the business tonight though, hopefully that'll catch the little bugger!

Has a blood test been done to confirm ovulation?. You should be having blood tests particularly if you are on clomid as it can affect your hormone levels. It looks like clomid is having some effect anyway as your cycles have got shorter over time.

TBH this is the only way you will know for certain whether you have ovulated or otherwise, particularly if PCOS is an issue. In any event it is also quite possible to have periods without ovulating.

What is cons. going to try in the event that clomid is unsuccessful?. I see that you're going to be starting your fourth cycle of clomid soon.

Meerkats - I am having 21 day blood tests and the last one (last months cycle) indicated I had ovulated so I am hoping this one will too.......guess I just have to wait and see though.

He mentioned Ovarian drilling if the clomid had no effect, but I guess if I ov'd last month he probably wouldn't go down that route now.

As clomid is advised only for a maximum time of six months he may not rule it out completely.

Have had diathermy surgery myself (was diangosed with PCOS in 1997) and the fear was far worse than the reality. I am a parent as a direct result of that operation, I am profoundly grateful that in my case surgery was successful.

Meer - thanks for the positive story, def helps to know there are people who conceived as a result of treatment.

I have an appointment with my consultant on the 10th May, after my 4th course, so I guess we will go through all the options then.
