bbts, why are they so low?

hiya ladies, i had a erpc on new years eve, i wont go into details as my sadness is on the miscarriage pages. i have been taking my temps since the 5th jan (out of interest)and they are so low, the highest ive recorded is around 36.20, for the past week they have all been under 35, one was as low as 35.35. i stopped bleeding a week ago, anyone have any idea why this is. thanks, dianne

I'm definitely not an expert but didn't want this to go unanswered. My bbts are also on the low side (36.20 to 36.40 pre ovulation and 36.55 to 36.80 post ovulation) so I've read a little bit about it. Apparently, low bbts can be a symptom of hypothroidism and some doctors use them diagnostically (see here). If you're worried you should probably talk to your GP.

what are the dangers of undiagnosed hypothyroidism and ttc/miscarriage? maybe i should ask on the main board. i have been noting my bbts since 05/01/09, 6 days after my miscarriage, although i have only done this i suppose to get back to some normality, i have been feeling bored, cant be bothered, not tired, i just thought maybe this was just the effects of my miscarriage. i am finding it hard getting back to my usual self, i am unusually quiet. so maybe i am suffering an over/underactive thyroid. my mum had this and i didnt think to mention it to the midwife or doctor. can anyone tell me what the difference is from an overactive and an underactive, my mum lost loads of weight, thats when she was diagnosed. thank you
