Hi Guys.

I have just recieved my info pack from the fertility clinic and I could really do with some advice/info if any one can help?

Basically it lists a load of tests and scans they require at your booking in app, but most of them I have just had done by the NHS. Do they generally make you repeat all these (and hence, pay for them) or will they accept/request them from the NHS if you tell them you've already had them recently? because they add upo to hundreds of pounds and it seems stupid when we have literally just had them done! I have tried to ring the clinic but its closed for the day and I am worrying about it!!

AAny help greatly appreciated xx

Mine just went down my records and picked them off, done that done that, no need to repeat. It was a concern of mine too.

Oh Good, I was concerned as they say int he letter my app is at 2.15 when I will have tests and scans then app with consultant at 2.45.... but no reference to those who may have already had these tests completed and what to do if you have!?

Did your letter state anything similar? If so did you just discuss at the initial appointment? I feel I will not get chance to avoid the tests almost as its assumed (from the letter) I will complete them on the day. There is nothing on there about them seeking records from my NHS consultant??

Is this normal?

Thanks for nswering by the way

Mine which was part of the Care Fertilty group only made us repeat the semen test fertilty wise. However they made us re take and thus pay for the HIV and sexual health tests etc even though I'd just had them done HTH

Can you get hold on your NHS records for the appt. Otherwise you will have less to discuss. But I went to Lister, and they took all the NHS stuff and even recommended which further tests I should get done on the NHS before progressing to IVF with them.

Ah right I am going to CARE facility. Thats a bit disappointing. It seems such a waste when you've already done them recently! I can understand the semen analysis but the chlamydia and HIV - Why??!

My NHS consultanat who was pretty unhelpful said that the clinic must request any info from them and would not let me have sight of anything!

You're entitled to request a copy of your nedical records!

I know! I did challenge him on the day and asked why not but he said If I wanted them I had to ask my GP to request them and get them from my GP

But them he also told me I could self refer to a private clinic and I had to beg him to write a letter, he was a total nightmare - he was not even a fertility specialist, just a gynea consultant and wouldn't or couldn't answer nearly all my questions about my situation urggh so glad I dont have to see him again :-(
