I hope someone can advise here. Have been ttc for ages and ages. Have had the blood tests which show that everything is ok and, although one 21 day test showed a level of only 30, subsequent ones had me at 44, 46 etc. So I presume I ovulate every month, pretty much, and my periods are regular between 26 and 30 days.

But- and here's the thing - have never had an abundance of EWCM, although I do get days and days of 'hand lotion'. Ov Sticks never show me the 'darker line'. So I have invested in a CB fertility monitor.

Now on month two. First month showed 8 days of high fertility but no 'egg day'.

Now I am on day 17 - have had 7 days of high but again no sign of peak.

My question then is...
Is my body just not ovulation predicting kit friendly?
Can I still get pregnant, even if the Monitor doesn't show Egg Day... if we BD every other day (as we have been) until whenever? Has this happened to anyone else?

Thanks in advance!

mornin heylottie,

I used to have cycles like this, and the cbfm never showed a peak day. I also had no ewcm either. It was very frustrating.

Although I also had a hsg which seemed to clear my tube (I only have one) and this gave me peak days on the cbfm and also ewcm and 2 months later I was pregnant after 18 months of trying.

It may be worth speaking to your gp about it and getting refered for an hsg if possible.

Good luck xx

Oh Bellie thank you - that's good to know. I am going to google all things hsg!
DP and I have an agreement that if we don't get pregnant in the next two cycles we will go back to the docs - and I will ask for an hsg.
Thanks!

sorry.... whats an hsg?

I have used a fertility monitor for a year and always got peaks until last month when I got 20 highs! The booklet says that this probably means I didn't ovulate that month. Am back to normal now and also used to get lines on the Ovulation tests.

I think probably you should go and speak to the doctor because you may not be ovulating at all.

Hmmm - yes maybe I am not ovulating - but would my blood tests not reflect that? Oh lordy now I am confused...

heylottie - how long have you been trying to concieve? Most doctors will refer you for a raft of tests after 12 months.

I am not sure whether the blood tests show ovulation or not - I was always led to believe that they did, but I got confused too.

bubblebell1, an hsg is a hysterosalpingogram, which is an x-ray of your uterus and fallopian tubes. You get dye pushed through your tubes so they can see if there is a blockage or not. In many case (and in my case) the dye 'flushes' anything that may be in the tubes away and allows conception quicker.

I am not up on all this but there's a poster called Atilla (sp) who knows more and would probably say that most GPs, though they know to do the tests, are not always knowledgable enough to compare the different bloods. I'm pretty sure mine wasn't. If you can get an appointment with the fertility consultant then it might be worth doing.
