I am hoping to do this too. We have sperm issues (low motility/morphology and count) and its a damn sight cheaper tham IVF so hoping it works. Any success tories would be greatly appreciated (also Hi patienceisavirtue your name is very apt! Patience is compulsory in my case LOL!)

I don't have an IUI success story but I did 4 rounds with donor sperm as my husband is infertile. I was 39 and regret doing it because i wasted a lot of months where i could be doing IVF. I got pregnant in late Nov from my 3rd IVF and that is going well - but I will be 42 when I deliver, which i am not thrilled about.

I agree that IUI is cheaper and believe that if you are young and/or funds are tight, it is best to try it first. If you are older and would be willing anyway to do IVF - don't waste time as you don't know how long your egg supply will last!

Best of luck!

Thanks for your experiences. Nothing very positive here, is there? . I was hoping for loads of you to say 'oh yes, worked for me first time.'

Just don't know if IVF and all it entails is the right way to go. Maybe I should just deal with fact that dd won't have a sibling.

HOW?!

Hi patience. Not exactly a success story but I had 8 IUIs with donor sperm (1st 5 natural and last 3 with clomid) and got pg on the 1st attempt - sadly mc'd at 5 weeks. Also probably had very early mc on the 6th attempt too. So you can get pg with IUI. I'm now trying IVF. Worth checking your clinic does both, then if you over-respond to drugs they may be willing to switch to IVF instead. Also, I've had to move clinics which has meant a delay between the IUI and IVF. Wish I'd got referred for IVF sooner now. At least then I could have carried on with IUI whilst waiting for IVF to start.

I conceived on my second round of IUI with injections, I was offered this on the NHS. I was 38 at the time. TBH the problem was predominantly with me. I was very lucky I know but it does prove that it can work. Good luck in whatever you decide but don't completely rule out IUI.

Hi

We also have a sperm issue. That is we're lesbians and have none!!! So are due to start DIUI in April/May. As for success stories....i post alot on a Rainbow Families message board where a large amount of the babies and bumps are DIUI concieved so it really can work. We're gonna give it 6 medicated cycles before we consider the IVF route

Good luck and don't give up hope
