I'm 23 and hoping to try for a baby from next month.

Anyone else?

OP posts:
eeyore2 · 15/01/2009 14:50

Hi Joy! I've been TTC since the start of December but since coming off the pill I haven't yet had AF. Also I wasn't really trying very hard because I had my wisdom teeth out at the start of December and then spent quite a lot of time swollen up like a terrifyingly overgrown chipmunk. So now I'm waiting either for AF or a BFP, which I'm testing for every two weeks or so just in case. If I get an AF soon then I'm going to go the whole hog with temping, charting, OPKs, Deanna Plan, the lot! Just because I like the idea of giving it my best shot.
Oh, and I agree with Lisey, it seems totally barmy that the average wait is two years, just from common sense and all the 'accidents' that seem to occur.

sammysam · 15/01/2009 14:50

katster DD will be 2 and a half on the 23rd. Because she is a july baby, we have now gone past the 'deadline' for a 3 yr (school year) gap, so as long as we concieve before next december we can keep it to 4 school years-which is more than I wanted-it will mean that for most of the time they will be at different schools-could be interesting in the mornings!!!
Sorry that AF is so bad this month

Since being pg with dd I hardly EVER drink anymore-(except for over christmas) you could even say NEVER-now who is boring?!!
I never get a chance-I don't live near pre dd friends and have got so out of the habbit that i don't really miss it......this is coming from the girl who could out drink everyone at Uni-don't think anyone would recognise me now . I react very badly to caffeine so I don't drink any tea or coffee either! What a fun life I have!

I only have one other (pre dd) friend with a child-all my others are now in relationships but only a couple of them at the point of buying houses-none getting married or thinking about children-but they do not tell me to my face that i'm boring to want to settle down etc-i'm lucky they are all very supportive.

Angel The waiting game is the worst thing ever-fingers crossed fr you!

Bubblebell I'm feeling a bit better today, cold is worse though . Yet another woman I know announced at the toddler group this morning she is 12wks pg she isn't a friend so it was a bit easier-she was the 5th i've found out about this week

Joy-having said that i'm sure when af arrives this month we'll be trying it next month -i am going crazy now after all-i will try everything and when I told dp about it last night he suggested be try it next month.....just don't want it to be yet another thing on my to do list iyswim?!

Hope everyone is ok today, where is everyone in their cycle? I'm half way through 2ww-ff says i should test on tue if no af by then-af is always on time though so doubt i'll be testing

Welcome eeyore, blackcherry and yummymummy! Blackcherry I am on cycle 3, CD3 - so pretty much identical. My cycles are roughly 27 days, so v similar.

sammysam, a 4 (school)year gap doesn't sound too bad? At primary school, you would have 3 years when they were both at the same school. I am a primary teacher and have a child in my class (who is 6) with a 12 year-old sister and a 2 month old sister!! I also have a girl in my class (also 6) who has a 24-year old sister!! Now that is a big age gap....! But I agree, I would (ideally!) like two or three, with 2 - 3 years between each. Although to be honest at the minute I would just like to know I could conceive at all!

Yes, maybe we should do a list?

Feel free to add yourselves!

8katster* I know, I know-it really isn't that bad-just something i'm still getting my head around as i'd always imagined a 2yr one like my sis and me. At the mo I just want another one asap-anythime, any sex just healthy. The reason I've been so upset about the recent pregnancies is that they are all due in the summer-dd, dp and I all have july birthdays (all in the same week!) and i'd have LOVED to make it 4!!!!

I forgot to say hi to and welcome eeyore, blackcherry and yummymummy

HI to everyone! Im not very good at this dating and following the month thing, so I have absolutly NO idea when AF is due (that said, I dont have regular cycles anyway). sammysam It doesn't seem like too much of an age gap to me, but I know that when you have it set out in your head, it can seem like an eternity away! I know someone who has a 12year age gap between her children! I was hoping to have mine a little closer together, so that they are close in age/get pregancies over with/ watch them grow up together. I think im looking forward to them all doing things together, rather than having one at school, one at home, being pregnant and not being able to do what they all want!

katster37 · 15/01/2009 15:53

Aaaaw sammysam that is lovely that your whole family celebrate their birthdays in the same week! DH is a twin, and his parents have the same birthday (albeit 10 years age gap!) and in their house they had 4 people with only 2 birthdays, which I always think is quite funny!
It's funny how you get an idea in your head about when your baby will be born. I always imagine being heavily pg over the summer for some reason, yet can't imagine having a Jan/Feb baby. I think if it works this month, it will be end of October. As a teacher, I had really wanted a Sep birthday so I could go back for a week after the summer hols, then go back to work in July hence getting paid for the following summer hols! Is it mercenary to think like that?!

oneyummymummy · 15/01/2009 15:55

katster I like your thinking

Joy27 · 15/01/2009 16:08

Just topping up the list:

katster37 ttc#1, cycle 3, CD3
blackcherry ttc#1 (is this right?), cycle 3, CD4
sammysam ttc#2, cycle 10/11? CD26
oneyummymummy ttc#2 cycle2, CD (your guess is as good as mine)
joy27 ttc#1, cycle 6 since mc, CD6

If we got pg this month, our baby would have birthday in Oct like me, my sisters and my grandpa.

For some reason I can imagine having a newborn at Christmas. Not sure why.

sammysam · 15/01/2009 16:11

I know-it worked really well this year-in the day we had a big party for dd and er friends, then most of them went home and the adult party started! I'm worried that another dc would feel left out of our birthday week! But to look at it another way i'm sure they'd love the fact that they have their special time of year all to themselves!
I shouldn't complain really-the problem is in my head as in reality there is no way I could imagine having another one right now-dd is in full tantrum swing, not potty trained yet etc etc and we are really enjoying our one on one time and doing loads of things togther (swimming lessons, tumble tots, jo jingles etc etc) that we wouldn't be able to do if we had #2 already.
Hopefully this way dd will start preschool in september and have (hopefully only one month ) to settle before #2 arrives and then I'll have the one to one time with dc2. When I look at it like that I feel so much better!!!

katster I love your plan-why not-if you can make it happen that will be fantastic

theboob · 15/01/2009 16:12

Hello to the newbies!

eeyore i had a funny cycle last months. it was 68 days and then af arrived hence y im such a control freak this time. i just hope that its back to 30days again. i couldnt bear the waiting again.

sammy im glad your feeling better.. Ive got a 6 yr age gap between ds' (ds1 is 8 in april and ds2 is 2 in feb) and i wanted to try so baby would be due in the autumn as all my immediate family are in feb march and april.. but if im honest i wouldnt care when baby was due if i could just get pregnant first.

boob i take my hat off to you.. i think its amazing that you can manage a family (which is a fulltime job on its own) and study.

Joy27 · 15/01/2009 17:07

Sammysam my best friend is getting married in sep and I'm "best woman"- if all goes to plan I'll be the size of a house and making a speech stone cold sober.
In a way, it's a good thing we didn't conceive last cycle, otherwise I might have been giving birth on her wedding day!

Let's hope you're holding a tiny baby as you follow your sister down the aisle.

bubblebell1 · 15/01/2009 17:10

joy i think you would look beautiful pregers on your friends big day.. maybe im just an emotional wreck but pregnant women always look beautiful to me... when they arent smoking or drinking with a big bump

oneyummymummy · 15/01/2009 19:15

bubblebell that made me laugh!

joy of corse pregnant women always look beautiful, you may take all the attention away from the bride!

boob Well done, I am trying to get my head around the idea of trying to juggle two and a full time job, let alone 4.

theboob · 15/01/2009 20:30

LOL everyone, when you have 3 dc then another one just fits in...the step from 2 to 3 is pretty much the same
I have a perfect routine that i stick too,dh and i work as a team and that helps too
I love college it makes me feel like me other than mummy all the time(not that i dont love it)
hope you are all well and we see some BFP's soon

theboob · 15/01/2009 20:31

sorry joy for knocking you off, dont know how i did that

sammysam · 15/01/2009 21:02

My god-how did i miss that-theboob you are amazing! I have enough trouble with dd and trying to fit stuff in-i've just started my breastfeeding counsellor training-how the hell you do it I dodn't know!!!! Huge respect to you!

bubblebell-the more I think about it the more a bigger gap feel right to me-and i'm with you on the 'please just let me have a baby-whenever!'

Joy-i'm still in the running for giving birth on their wedding day-don't think my sis would ever forgive me but at least i'd never forget their anniversary! Would be a nice story to tell...
I hope you are very pregnant on their wedding day and I have a baby at my sisters....

oneyummymummy · 16/01/2009 08:17

Morning all. so Ive got some crampy pains this morning, maybe AF is on her way! The thing that makes it worse is that when I thought about it I only really have 12 shots at it a YEAR! (obviously this was always the case, but its only just dawned on me)

Sending lots of baby dust to you all.

katster37 · 16/01/2009 09:02

yummymummy I thought that the other day - you end up wishing the month away. I am on CD4 now (took my temperature for the first time today on my new thermometer!!) and am already counting down the days to the BD-ing and the end of the wait!

Morning to everyone else!

bubblebell1 · 16/01/2009 09:09

kat can i ask you a question re temping... i bought a digital 1 from boots.. same 1 thats in their fertility pack thingy magig. and i take my temp and its extreamly low. so i take it again and its different. its different everytime i take my temp. even if its straight after the time before.. do u think its broken perhaps? or is this normal?

sammysam · 16/01/2009 09:10

Morning! This may be my only chance to look til after the weekend as we are going up to my mums so i'll be very behind on the posts by mon!!
yummymummy I know-it's crazy really. And next month is a no go for me as dp is skiing over ov time so that is one less.....
Oh and my cycles are quite long (30-35 days) so may almost mean I only have 11 a year anyway

kaster Good luck with the temping. I have found it really interesting-and it helps to see that you are actually ovulating
I had trouble this morning though seeing as I can't breathe through my nose
