Can't wait to take the test and it's driving me crazy!

Hello All,

Forgive me if I have repeated someone else but I'm on my first Mum of trying to get pregnant and I have two weeks until I am due and it's driving me mad. I just know I'm going to spend a fortune of pregnancy tests which I can't afford! How do you cope with the wait?

Not much you can do but wait, I'm afraid. If you want cheap pregnancy tests you can get very cheap job lots on e-bay, or pound shop sells packs of 2. Good luck

I'm due 15th Jan. Realistically, what is the earliest I should take it?

It took me 14 months and I nearly went crazy (and bankrupt!). Got there in the end, though .

First Response are the earliest, they claim to detect 62% of pregnancies 5 days before period due. I'm not sure what levels of hcg they detect, but you can buy ones which detect levels as low as 10 (can't remember the units) online. If I remember correctly, most tests detect around 98% of pregnancies 2 days before AF due, so worth holding out until then if you can.

Some people say not to test early and others are serial testers. It's really a matter of personal choice. Be aware though that if you test early you may get a positive result and then the embryo doesn't implant properly so you still get AF when due.
