Conceiving at 43 - anyone had any success?

We have just decided to try for another baby but I am now 43. I conceived my first when I was 40 and despite having 2 early miscarriages before getting pregnant, I mananged to become pregnant within 6 months each time and was advised that I have no fertility problems. I have searched on the internet for guidance about becoming pregnant at my age and can nothing but negative comments! There must be some 'older' mums out there who have conceived naturally at this age? Surely there is hope? Wasn't Cherie Blair about this age when she had Leo?? Would love to hear from anyone who has had success at this ripe old age!!!

There are quite a few women on here who've managed it. I am 42 and nearly 43 and so far I haven't been one of them

The internet is hardly the place to look for positive reinforcement, but anecdotally there seem to be plenty of women who are able to do it. There are no guarantees and the only approach to take (IMHO) is to assume that it's a long shot, but that you might be lucky! The ttc 40+ thread is friendly and full of funny women to help you through it all.

Yep, conceived at 43, had a perfect, gorgeous little boy, now 7 months old and asleep on my other arm as I type this one-handed.

PS I think Cherie B was 45 when she had Leo.

I am 44 today and TTC #4.I have a DD of 22 months,she was a surprise pregnancy.

I also have grown up boys 25 and 23 from a previous relationship.

I have been TTC for 6 months now and although I sometimes get a little down I haven't given up hope yet.

Yep, Cherie was 45 and immediately afterwards a site mothers35plus.co.uk was started up. I used to hang out there, before I discovered MN! (I had ds1 at 38, ds2 at 41, but there were several on that site having babies in their mid forties.)

There was lots of useful information about the myths/realities of risks with later pregnancies, and lots and lots of positive encouragement/practical experience. There is a chat board, though I think they introduced a small fee to join after problems with intrusive posting from one 'porn broker'.

It is focused on conception/early years, so I no longer go there, but someone else mentioned it on MN last year, so I think it is still going, and still very postitive about later pregnancies.

I got pregnant at 42 within 3 months of trying! Am now 45 and ttc number 2 but not doing so well this time unfortunately!

I tried to maximise my chances as best as I could tbh. Used Fertility Friend to record temperatures, ovulation tests etc and made sure I BD'd from day 10 of my cycle right through until I got a temperature rise to indicate I had ovd. Was also having acupuncture at the time so not sure if that helped or not (was for something unrelated) but may consider it again!
