Just a quickie question.
I bought opks for the first time this time around so that I could work out what was going on after my erpc on 9th Dec. Foolishly, I forgot to do them for a couple of days over Xmas. I had pink bands both sides of Xmas, but not dark enough to be positive. I had ewcm and a good libido around that time , and the opks have got really faint now. However, I was still getting faint pink lines on my hpt after Xmas. The tests I'm using are Ebay ones.

So, is it possible that I ovulated despite my positive hpts?

Not really important, but just curious.

hello hobnob, we were on the an thread together. I hope you are OK after the mc. I have been having negative opks for over a week but had a very faint line on an hpt a couple of days ago. I have not ovulated though.

I used the cheap opks before and never got a strong line, but all other signs were that I had ovulated. I don't think you can rule out the possibility of a false positive though. sorry if this reads as rather confusing...

In fact I didn't answer your question!

I don't know the answer to whether you ovulated or not as that was something that I wondered about. But I do know that the HCG present in your urine will affect an OPK, in that it will make the line darker.

I used an opk everytime I used an hpt after my erpc and the lines got fainter at the same rate-ish, initially they were both amazingly dark. The web site 'pee on a stick' mentions somewhere using opks as hpts.

HOWEVER, that doesn't mean to say you didn't ovulate at xmas. What happens in the weeks after a miscarriage follows no set pattern whatsoever. Have you had a negative hpt yet?

rubles · 02/01/2009 21:57

When I say something I wondered about, I mean when it happened to me. In my case I had pos hpts right up to my first period, so I didn't know if I ov'd or not.
Actually thinking about it again, I don't think I had positive opks all that time, the opk faded quicker and I think may actually have had no line at all in the week before period.

Sorry that's all a bit jumbled

Hmmm, I didn't know about the hpt-opk link, so thanks rubles. Who knows, really? As with anything, we just have to wait and see. I haven't done an hpt since the end of last week so I can't say for sure, but just like you my opk line has all but disappeared and it's the week before my period would be due if my cycle is any way normal at the moment.

Doing ok thanks bedhed. I was amazingly ok after the erpc - so thankful not to be pregnant any more which is odd since I'd give anything to still be! I had a very wobbly time after that in the run-up to Xmas when I was also very emotional about my mum as she had a heart scare. Think I am ok now, just dreading going back to work next week yet thinking a break from terrible twos and potty training would be nice! How have you been?

Hi hobnob, tbh mc affected me quite badly - but my dad died earlier in 2008 and it brought back a lot of pain from that too. Feeling more positive now and quite looking forward to getting back to normal. Really want to ttc again but waiting for cycle to resume - its really frustrating (hence OPK mania!). Brave of you to do the potty training, I cannot face it quite yet! Hope going back to work is not too bad, I am back next week and know how you feel!

hobnob57 · 03/01/2009 20:09

Sorry to hear that Bedhed. Here's hoping 2009 is a better one for both of us.

I'm fed up with these opks already - I don't know how some people can become addicted to them! I never seem to be able to remember to do them at the same time each day, and when I do I've usually just had a cup of tea. And this waiting for room temperature lark...driving me nuts. I suppose it'll be better when I'm back at work and have more routine, but I don't fancy carrying around pee pots for the rest of the year!
