I am 40 and have 2 DC's I have been unable to ttc for the past 3 years due to medical reasons, all sorted now, I am very keen to have another DC but don't have time on my side to try for ages. Is it possible to take any fertility drugs to help the process along? Am happy to go private if there is anyway I can help the process, am feeling really desparate, nothing has happened for the past 4 months.

i think the first step should be to go and see your GP - he/she will know if you are entitled to nhs help and also whether you can be referred for private treatment. I would be tempted to say that you have been ttc for longer than 4 months though - that would probably speed up any referral. Or you could say that you were unable to ttc earlier for medical reasons.

Do you know about charting your temps to pinpoint your ovulation? I found that really helped. There is a great book called Taking Charge of your Fertility which I would really recommend. I also found the Fertilityfriend website very useful - helps you to chart your cycles and lots of useful info/discussion boards. I pay for membership but you can do the basic charting for free. Think they still do a free one-month trial of the VIP membership so you can see what you think.

Finally, the cycle I got pregnant, I used Preseed - a sperm-friendly lubricant (most lubes can kill sperm - including saliva so it's a good idea to lay off oral sex if you are ttc).

Good luck- hope it happens quickly for you!
