I am on the 2ww over Christmas. How important is it not to drink alcohol?

I'm due to be testing a few days after Christmas.

On the one hand I think conceiving a healthy baby is sooo much more important than a night out. (I have lost 5 pregnancies since I started ttc 4 years ago.)

On the other hand, chances are I will get my period Dec 28th-29th and then I will be sooooo pissed off that I missed out on any Christmas nights out for nothing

I do not normally drink at all. I am almost tee total. But for the odd special occasion, I do enjoy a bit of a bingey night out.

Anyone else in similar situation? All opinions gratefully received

Hi TiredofWaiting - well I will be keeping everything crossed that this is your lucky month! As to drinking in the 2WW, well, the foetus has no linked blood supply with yours until 6 weeks, so you will know whether you are pregnant or not before any damage is done. So, my advice would be to let your hair down and have a really fun Christmas.

Good luck!

official advice is not to drink when trying to conceive or planning a pregnancy,

we had waited quite a while to conceive dd1 and in the end sort of gave up and just carried on as before days ttc.

2 days before bfp, went to a big summer do at dh's work and drank until 4am.

Bet there are a lot of babies conceived or found out about after drinking lots of alcohol, so I wouldn't worry about enjoying christmas to the full
