My friend has just got pregnant in her first month of trying! Is that really unusual? How long did it take those of you who are / have been pregnant?

Over a year the first time and then one cycle following that MMC.

unplanned with dd, almost a year and still no luck this time

1 1/2 years for DS1, 1 year for DS2. Transpired that I don't ovulate until day 21 (very late)in a 29 day cycle. We'd been aiming for Day 14 for so long.

For some it takes years (me) and others moments (best mate). Are you trying? It is heartbreaking if you are long term ttc while others seem to get pg at the blink of an eye.

for me the second month. It's different for everyone and depends on a lot of things. You won't know til you try.

3 months first time round and six months this time and still trying... good luck x

on my 16th cycle now, but am old and about to go to see a fertility consultant in January.

Thanks for your replies - I guess there's no 'set time' and I'll just have to wait and see! I've only started trying this month and fully expect it to take a little while but you know what it's like - very easy to get obsessive!

I think that if you asked on the pregnancy topics you may get a different answer. I don't think it is unusual to get pg the first month, but equally no-one knows how long it will take. I came off pill, paid no attention as thought it would take a while for cycle to settle and 5 weeks later I started wondering when my period was going to arrive. Because I had told myself it was going to take ages and hadn't paid attention at all to ovulation or anything I was pretty shocked to be honest! Probably after this next time OH (who now thinks sperm are supercharged) will be disappointed to find it takes a year. Nobody can predict it.
