How reliable are pregnancy tests?

I mentioned a few weeks ago my friend worried she might be pregnant as she played with the old withdrawal technique on/around her ovulation days.

Anyway, she is now 2 days late and is worrying. She has taken a test and it?s negative. She has period cramps and is highly irritated.

Is there still a chance she could be pregnant? Wouldn?t the test show up because it was a ?6 days before you period? one?

thre is still a chance, some women just don't have the hormones early on. Tell her to test again in a week perhaps.

the cramps could be her period coming.
