Hi everyone I have started a new thread... hope you like the new home, this is where it will all happen. (Cindy opens a bottle of champagne) Here's a drink to all and to our month ofthe BFP... .... baby dust all around ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Jesus Cindy if DH and I could have managed it twice a day on a regular basis it would have been a miracle. You shouldn't need to bd more than once a day even at peak time - sending in reinforcements daily should be sufficient!

Pezzina · 14/01/2009 10:18

I hope you get good news Wasabi my fingers are crossed for you. I'm sure your little bean will be listening xx

queenie1 · 14/01/2009 10:21

Cindy / wasabi - thanks for advice re OPK sticks. I'm not in a scientific profession but perhaps I should be?!! The OPK that was nearly as dark as control line yesterday has now dried and looks similar to the others (yes they are still lined up and labelled!!). So will continue to test every day around 2pm ish and see if I get an obvious surge. Meanwhile me and DH are trying to BD every couple of days (so far CD7, 10, 11 and 13).

Cindy - we don't manage twice a day let alone once. Only reason for morning romps is that DH is often knackered when he gets in from work and for some reason we've always been more morning sort of people (although I take whatever and whenever I get at the moment!!). So try not to worry. As long as it's every couple of days you should be covered.

yellow - hope you're feeling okay?

wasabi - I know just what you mean about talking to the bean and wishing / asking it to choose life. I so hope things work out well - and let us know when you hear of the blood tests. All my thoughts are with you. xxx

so jools - any obsessive symptom spotting to report today? You did warn us it would kick in on DPO 8!!

Joolsiam · 14/01/2009 10:35

Well you did ask

I'm already having to give myself a good talking to - had mild cramps when I got up this morning - told myself it was just because I was desperate to pee and had been holding it all in. Every so often though, I feel something down in the abdominal area - it just seems heavier with the odd very mild crampy twinge. Could be something or could be nothing (need a shrugs shoulders emoticon)

Lots of the day left for obsessing

On the BD question - DP and I have been together over ten years and have kinda got comfortable with each other - BD would routinely happen once a week at most Since TTC, I've managed to increase the frequency around the crucial time, but not by that much really. Have just found we are better in the mornings, so have to hope that OV coincides with a weekend, so we don't have to get up ! My Sept BFP was after only 3BD's that month and I'm sure two of them were too early

yellowflowers · 14/01/2009 10:40

Hi all - thanks for asking. I am much better today though still coughing but not so much I throw up. Had sex last night and dh did say he found me asking him to stop so I could cough (they are great big body shuddering coughs) a bit offputting!

C1ndy - we never do twice a day - I don't think we did even when we were first together or on honeymoon . We are trying for every other day but something I am trying to do is morning one day then evening the next so it feels like every other day to dh but is actually every day. So for example we did it on Monday morning and then on Tuesday night so that's 36 hours between shags which must be better than 48. Will then try for tomorroe morning too so no sex today but only 36 hours between Tues night and Thurs morning. Not sure it will work every time though.

C1NDY · 14/01/2009 13:00

Thanks to all for sharing! Goush, I thought I had to do it twice a day... Yellow loved your way of thinking...I may try that method if I get no BFP this month.

Now something interesing someone mentioned that if my sticks turn positive i may still not have ovulated. I thought we ovulate when sticks turns pink within 36 - 48 hours?? therefore when my stick turned positive on CD13.. I had a window of CD13 and CD15 to have ovulated in. So does that mean i could still ovulate on CD16, CD17..etc...???

If so, then I should continue the bd - as I was going to have one last try tonight and then give DH a three week rest!!

Queenie before I forget, you can only read the OPK the internet one's for one hour only as if you read them after this time then it can lead to a misreading (I think the strip colour will darken or fade). You can keep the sticks for memory but once I have done my test.. I read it and then file it away in the bin. You can record your OPK results on FF, if you are using this method of charting.

Hi everyone,

Gosh, it's been busy in here!

First of all Wasabi, I don't even know you, but I am thinking of you with all my might today, hoping for some good news (as I'm sure everyone else on this thread is too!)

Queenie, I use the same OPKs, and have been struggling with them this month... maybe there's a duff batch out there? Either that, or my cycle's messed up. JTLYK, last month when I picked up the surge, I had a faint line one day and then a dark line (clearly darker than test line) the next, faint the one after that and that's when I stopped dipping. Perhaps should've carried on. This month, nothing but completely white ones, and have had pale ones a few days in a row now but should've had a surge by now. All in all, not feeling positive this month.

C1ndy, Thanks for the tip, I'll be ordering some pre-seed asap. Getting a bit sick of the GFJ and cough syrup... re: the twice daily romps, I'm sure I've read that it's actually better to do the deed every other day, otherwise you end up diluting the swimmers. Twice daily is probably fine if your DH is a super stud, but mine has a low count, so we're better of saving them up. Luckily, as after 8 years together, twice daily is a tall order!

And lastly, thought I'd share a bit of info... a friend of mine is going through IVF at the moment, and had an appointment yesterday. She was told (and I'm sure she wouldn't mind me sharing this, although at the same time it feels strange to keep taking mental notes as she's really been struggling...) that she needs to make sure she gets 60 grams of protein every day, AND was advised to keep a hot water bottle on her belly at night.

Might as well give it a go, right?

WanabeMum · 14/01/2009 13:55

Cindy re: the twice daily romps. Unfortunately i only get to do it daily around OV and it's usually at night. I had been thinking of trying to do it morning/evening alternates like yellow suggests but DH is up and out of the house by 5:50am! way too ealry to get "in the mood" . Once every other day and then daily around OV should be fine. There are plenty of women who got their BFP that way!

Wasabi i really hope your blood results give you a glimmer of hope and i'm sure your little bean ws listening to you. Fingers crossed and positive thoughts for both you and your bean Good luck honey xx

Jools ooooh your symptoms are stacking up girl!! Sounding very optimistic for you!
I'm very confused today, had convinced myself it was a UTI but today hardly any symptoms. Now my past experiences show that it only gets worse without antibiotics so what on earth is going on? I know it is/was thrush because the cream helped and it felt like there was a fire down there!
I really hope these are symptoms for me. My DH said last night "i really hope it works this time, it's starting to get me down now as it's the one thing i can't give you" awww i felt aweful for him. Never thought it would be this hard (how naive of me!)

wasabipeanut · 14/01/2009 14:00

Well I just got my results and they are not great but not a disaster either. They are showing 46 days whereas by my calcs they should have been showing a minimum of 50. A 4 day discrepancy would be okish but the fact is that 46 days is about 6 and a half weeks and my scan measurements were......6 weeks.

My midwife said it wasn't looking great but to have more bloods done on Friday. If they are the same or less then it looks like this little bean is not to be.

I half wish she'd said - it's coming in at 5 weeks, that way at least I'd know for sure.

Now I have more waiting

Joolsiam · 14/01/2009 14:02

Wasabi - interesting that you talk about a heightened sense of smell post ov - I've never noticed that before, but then again, wasn't really looking out for it before either

I still think your suspected UTI / Thrush is a symptom

I'm still at the stage of having twinges of nausea / dizziness / abdo ache / itchy nips that could be imagination or could be a symptom so am trying not to get too excited. From memory, this is what it was like last time, and it was only when I got unmistakable abdo pain (like a poker going into belly button) and hot, tingly nips, that I really allowed myself to hope. I have a theory though, that post MC, your body is used to the hormones still, so won't react as quickly or to such a degree

WanabeMum · 14/01/2009 14:10

Good theory Jools! Possible i suppose. Although your body seems to be picking up on something. Surely they can't all be a figment of your imagination??

Hope you're right about my "symptoms" Jools. Keeping all my fingers and toes crossed for both of us this month. When will you be able to test? I'm only 7DPO today and had small pokey feelings earlier in lower left of abdomen. Trying not to look into it too much or I'll get carried away!

Wasabi i'm sorry the news wasn't better, but at least it wasn't a total disaster. It must be aweful to have to wait another few days but try and be positive. Keep speaking to your little bean and encourage it to hang on in there over the next few days! May sound silly but who knows what works? Hoping for you honey.

Joolsiam · 14/01/2009 14:18

I am 8 or 9 DPO I think

I keep checking my diary from last time - I think I suspected heightened sense of smell, but wasn't convinced till I fed the cats and nearly hurled into the cat food at 11DPO, so that will be the test

Joolsiam · 14/01/2009 14:18

Oh, and "pokey feelings" are very good news - can I get excited for you ? !!

wasabipeanut · 14/01/2009 14:21

I think the "cat food challenge" should be a proper part of diagnosing a pregnancy.

The smell of our IAMS nearly did for me on more than one occasion.

WanabeMum · 14/01/2009 14:23

Yes please feel free!!
Laughed out loud at the hurling in the cat food!!!!!!

I just spoke to DH about it possibly being a symptom and he wants me to test Saturday (10DPO) and every day after until we get a BFP or my AF arrives. Men have no idea how expensive these tests are obviously!
I know he's hoping now but i have to do the whole "you never know but i can't think about it until AF arrives or is late" but he isn't having any of it at the moment

WanabeMum · 14/01/2009 14:26

just rang the GP back and they agree there is protein in my urine so the nurse has sent it to the lab for testing which means i can't have antibiotics until at least tomorrow afternoon!! what happens if it flares up again tomorrow? bloody people have no consideration, she was a bit drippy too (sorry not normally so mean)

Joolsiam · 14/01/2009 14:54

Sorry it isn't more definite Wasabi

As you say, a 4 day discrepancy could be explained away, so I will still keep everything crossed for you.

smileycat · 14/01/2009 14:59

Had my scan today and we saw our little bean (only 1 thank god) with a lovely strong heart beat thumping away. I nearly cried, what a relief. My gyni said it looked good & strong & hopefully we are past the danger stage.she agreed with my dates for the size
She said I can go back and have another scan in 2 wks time to put my mind at rest & then book in with a midwife either that day or arrange an appointment.

Wasabi I'm so sorry your news wasn't great, but there is still hope & I'm sure they would have told you out right if they thought that there wasn't so not to keep you in limbo

WanabeMum · 14/01/2009 15:05

Aww Congratulations Smiley!!!!!!!
That's fantastic news and such a relief for you all i bet. Take care and keep us updated on your progress xx

wasabipeanut · 14/01/2009 15:06

Smiley that's great news. I'm happier for you than you probably think.

spats · 14/01/2009 15:10

scared to type this in case i jinx it but i got a BFP today i don't test early and wait and wait and DH made me test today so i am 5 weeks now six long months and this month i was feeling so ill over xmas that didn't bother with epo, grapefruit juice or cough syrup!! Oh and fell on the ice and twisted my ankle on the day i guess it was inplanting!!!

Joolsiam · 14/01/2009 15:13

Fab news on the scan Smiley - I can well imagine how relieved you must feel

And Spats - wow - did you suspect Congratulations I was asking the other day on a new thread about taking Ibuprofen when TTC - someone told me a story about spraining their ankle or something and having a theory that it was natures way of making you slow down

spats · 14/01/2009 15:27

i did suspect after 3 days after i thought AF should arrive and now my boobs are overspilling my bra so was a sign!!! I do alot of dancing also but as it was the xmas holidays there was none on so i don't know if that helped it implant. Who knows why it suddenly happens, it the most out of control i have ever felt these 6 months. I wish all of you every luck in the world with ttc as its a complete bl**dy nightmare each month. I have fingers crossed this sticks, but if it does i have the unenviable task of telling my friend who tried for 7 years , had 1 miscarriage and is now adopting. It will be hard on her

yellowflowers · 14/01/2009 15:32

great news spats
x

Pezzina · 14/01/2009 15:36

Great news on your scan Smiley it much be such a relief.

Sorry that you are still in limbo Wasabi - its horrible that you have to wait and can't really do anything to help the situation - although I think Wannabe is right - talk to your little bean to encourage it to fight and grow.

Spats congratulations! That is wonderful news.

Good luck to Jools and Wanabe your symptoms do sound promising

I've been feeling quite nauseous today and my belly seems quite bloated. Twins do run in my family and so my DH and I decided to book in for an early scan - just to check in on the little bean(s) and make sure everything is ok. Scan is booked for 24th Jan - by which time I will be 8 weeks. Quite excited about it. But still so anxious something may go wrong. I love Mums Net but sometimes reading all the other peoples experiences can make you realise how much can go wrong!
