Shagging in the 2WW?

Okay since someone has asked about smear tests I figure I can ask this but I think it is quite possibly the most stupid question I have ever asked!

Do you think shagging during the two week wait could decrease chance of conception (am visualising like the womb lining being a bouncy mattress with a tennis ball (fertilised egg) on it- shagging causes the mattress to bounce and the ball fall off!- haha!)

I am a little too obsessed methinks! Oh dear!

I am with you on that one. i visualise the tiny egg being wooshed away by a fountain of litle swimmers - i avoid it, i say i have aching boobs and don't feel like it!!

Thandeka · 03/12/2008 19:45

Oooh crumbs I hadn't even thought of that! The power of the sperm!
Nargh!

In a word NO!

MrsHappy · 03/12/2008 20:50

No - the egg is a lot bigger than sperm and is not going to be washed anywhere by them.
Shag away.

Thandeka · 03/12/2008 20:50

no don't do it? or no don't be such an idiot?

Haha.

Okay this thread indicates the depths to which my insanity has reached. I studied reproductive phsyiology at university. I know I am being an idiot. Someone hit me please!

(On the other hand I have it on good authority that exercise during the 2ww is a bad idea so that is my next very silly idea!- evidence: putting in all my exercise in my FF chart dramatically decreased my pregnancy symtoms calculator even though that was the only thing that changed- and apparently IVF nurses recomended no exercise so blood isnt diverted from where it needs to be!)

Ah, but doesn't sex send extra blood to the reproductive organs???

MrsHappy · 03/12/2008 21:16

Also, I reckon IVF nurses recommend no exercise because they don't want the patient feeling like it is their fault if they get a BFN.

I think if a bean is going to stick no amount of sex or spinning will stop it!

misdee · 03/12/2008 21:17

i thought this meant 'shagging in the 2nd world war'

ChukkyPig · 03/12/2008 21:18

I thought you meant shagging during the 2nd world war!!!

ChukkyPig · 03/12/2008 21:19

x-post misdee!

Would have been an interesting thread though!

so after all this what is the verdict sex or no sex, excercise or no exercise. Actually when i fell pg with 1st i didn't realise i was pg (honeymoon baby literally) and did the dance of the cygnats on pointe for a dance show. Lots of jumping up and down, would have been only just pg so i guess thats that theory blown!! However i may ease up on the dancing this tiem round as its getting harder ttc.

Hi Thandeka, spats, all!

I've wondered exactly the same thing re BDing in the 2WW (mind those bombs! ) I suspect Mrs Happy is right - if that egg is going to stick it's going to stick - but I still feel iffy about it. I'm avoiding exercise too even though this didn't prevent implantation last time I was pg. It's not rational, is it...

Thandeka · 08/12/2008 09:36

Well this time I am prob going to ovulate just as school breaks up (am a teacher) and my 2 WW will coincide with me being on holiday so I am hoping the no stress relaxation of it all will help with implantation - since its Christmas I will most likely be avoiding exercise (and eating too much chocolate!) but as for shagging since DH is working most of Christmas then chance would be a fine thing- then again it is the festive season so will probably indulge once or twice.

This is our 3rd official month of TTC (well 4th but were banned for one month due to suspected infected fallopian tube) and according to my book on reproductive physiology (I studied it at Uni) 50% of couples will get pregnant by 3rd month (of well timed intercourse- excluding couples who havent the foggiest about ovulation) and by 6th Month 70% of couples will be pregnant. Heres hoping I'm not in the 30% who don't by 6motnhs- I may have gone insane and be asking even stupider questions- like is it okay to put odd socks on when TTC?

Hmm odd socks....bad idea! Think it might kill the romance.
