Conception and Cambridge Diet

Hi all,

I started the Cambridge Diet 6 weeks ago and have so far lost nearly three stone- whoo hoo! the whole point of the diet was to be a healthy weight before we start TTC next year.

Now- I am 5 days late, have horrible taste in my mouth (which maybe diet), sore boobs and am exhausted.

My question is: does anything have experience of a ketosis inducing diet ie- 500Kals a day having an effect on the effectiveness of the Pill?

Also- is it possible that my very low cal diet is just stopping my period altogether. Had a very normal period last month, but maybe effects have built up.

Any advice very welcome.

Thanks
Hx

I would say you are pregnant. Have you tested?

Not yet

I have done this before- totally convinced myself I was pregnant, only not to be!

I know- sounds stupid. I will test later this week if AF doesn't show up. Have also been ill with flu for past two weeks so maybe this has effected things. It's pretty miraculous we managed to BD at all!

Thanks

3 stone in 6 weeks sounds fantastic ! Where do I sign up ?

It is actually amazing- obviously I have a lot to lose though!

Its shakes, soups and bars which you buy from a councillor each week. But you eat no food, drink no booze and have gallons of water. After a few days of feeling awful you go into ketosis which means your body is burning its own fat- hence very quick weight loss. I lost 11 pounds in 1st week.

But it's very hard work- quite miserable and only for the determined. You are not allowed to do it for more than 12 weeks- not sure I will get there!

Low calorie diets can impair fertility I would be very careful. Ovulation is also linked to insulin receptors so you want to keep your blood sugar levels at a good level.
