Hello am 40 and have just posted on the 'hoping for a Sept/Oct' baby thread, then I found this thread for us beautiful, wise, women. This is first time I've looked on line for information and support, so feel a bit anxious about posting.

I'm ttc #4 and know how incredibly lucky I am to have my 3 lovely children. I've conceived really easily before, but this time had a miscarriage in August and have not conceived since.

I'm really feeling for those of you who have been ttc for a while and wondered if I could join you, even though it has only been 4 months??

Best of luck to all of us this month.

Tabitha8 · 10/01/2009 18:15

Rowing sorry to hear you are going through all this pain and confusion. When life isn't being a riot, it's being a complete bastard. (Sorry, am I allowed to say that on here?)
Heron best wishes for next week. I quite agree about us over 40s. Our reproductive years don't suddenly come to a halt just because we reach 40.
Welcome to the gang, Bumpless.
Well, I gave in and bought a fetal heart monitor. Great to hear Little Tab's still hanging on in there. Our 20 week scan is next Friday. The longer this goes on, the more I do believe that it is the Aspirin keeping her going. She must be as addicted to it as I am.

heron22 · 10/01/2009 18:21

hi juicy
how are you?
i agree that sections are bad. well, actually i had a section the first time as well, so would not know how it compares with vaginal birth.

but this time around, i feel more calm, cos i know roughly what to expect (i hope!).

heron22 · 10/01/2009 18:24

hi tabitha good luck with your 20 week scan. are you going to find out boy or girl?

i also bought a fetal heart monitor and i find that i use it even now. very reassuring.

StarPlayer · 10/01/2009 19:26

Hi all

Rowing I hope your scan gets done real soon

Fruitbowl you have made laugh out loud too

Heron I hope everything goes smoothly for you next week - and hasn't time flown (well for us anyway you might not feel the same

Hi all, welcome Twiglettini. I think it can take a little while to get over an MC. As soon as your body is ready I'm sure you will be able to conceive again.
Heron, OMG! I was thinking about you yesterday, wondering about your dates. So what is going to happen, will you be induced?
Are you feeling OK about it all?
Thanks for your concern Tab, Juicy, Star, the bleeding is really easing off now.
I'm feeling a bit paranoid now, about bding, because we have decided to pursue IVF this kind of thing poops up your cycle days and generally wastes time when you could be starting treatment.
Also, I don't want to risk an ectopic, so will definitely be buying pg tests, because I can't risk this again, it could be bad.
I'm not sure if they can tell whether it was an ectopic? At least I can't imagine how they will be able to see anything by the time I get scanned. I don't know if it is normal to have a regular MC and have the pain on one side that I had - the GP did say the left tube was swollen. It's all very confusing. Perhaps it was a regular MC.
This might be TMI, but I noticed a strange kind of fibrous mass on day two of the bleeding and I started googling furiously. So anyway, it could have been the start of the placenta (from what I could find), but apparently you can have that with an ectopic or a blighted ovum.
I'm not sure, but I have read of people having dodgy tubes removed after an ectopic. Does anyone know if that is true.
Sorry, I'm probably over-dramatising this, but I am not sure what to make of things.

rowingboat · 11/01/2009 00:34

Sorry, for the double post.Don't ask!

grownupbabes · 11/01/2009 09:02

Great news Heron, but rowing I am sorry for all you are going through. And hello to new people... always nice to meet like minded fellow travellers and keep the hope going.

Natural Progesterone Cream update for those who are interested:

Success! (Not BFP kind of success obviously, but a little bit of success) In just 2 weeks of using the cream I have lengthened my LP from 10 days to FOURTEEN DAYS!!! OK, AF is here now, but still 14 days!! That's "normal" and the first time in 5 years I have gone anywhere near it So, I am really pleased. If anyone wants to give it a try i will post the details.

Juicylucytoo · 11/01/2009 10:32

Rowing. I have heard of tubes being removed after eptopic. But thought that was more when the they hadn't yet mc'd - i.e. had to have tube removed to remove what was in it. This is not scientific just conjecture on my part. Anyway fingers crossed for you that it will all be ok xx

Juicylucytoo · 11/01/2009 10:33

Grownup - sounds great. Fingers crossed for the BFP next!

Twiglettini · 11/01/2009 19:42

Sorry you are going through such a difficult time, Rowingboat, how horrible for you. I hope all goes well x

Tabitha8 · 11/01/2009 20:13

Hi Heron No, we want the boy/girl bit to be a complete surprise. Anyway, if we knew that she really was a she, mother-in-law would be knitting everything in pink (not that she knows about Little Tab yet). I'd like some oranges, reds and yellows.

fruitbowl · 11/01/2009 22:55

Hi everyone and welcome to new girls and old skool threaders who are now with child - you make us feel so GOOD!!! Tabitha sort of misread your post and thought you were expecting a citrus fruit!! (waves to all!)

Just back from a self discovery residential weekend thingy. Heavy man! I was able to mention about my MC to a group of people without having a complete melt down. Although it felt horrible, I'm so proud of myself for being able to express that. Just thought I'd share.

Rowing - I don't know if this is of any remote use/comfort to you but when I chatted to consultant last week about my abnormally developed womb along with my one or two fallopian tubes (they're not sure if I've got 1 or 2!) He was telling me that you still have very good chances of conceiving even with only one tube because the one tube can apparently pick up the egg from either ovary! How in flippin ecks name that is anatomically possible I have know idea. But I like it, so I'm not questioning.

Not that you're headed for one tube but if that even happened - there's still hope! Hey and if it did you could join my special gang but you may have to make your womb a bit more wonky first!

Sorry for rambling on-zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

rowingboat · 12/01/2009 00:33

Hi Fruit - that weekend sounds very interesting. What kind of things did you do? Was it a specific 'approach' like NLP or something or lots of breathing.
You must be feeling very chilled.
I could do with one of them.
The bleeding is still going, but is much lighter now and I am tired and should be in bed.
Tab I totally agree with the oranges and reds thing. I had a chat today with somebody at work who thinks dressing a little girl every day exclusively in (clashing) shades of pink is a great idea. I think it looks a bit tacky personally, I mean pink is a pretty colour, but you can have too much of good thing.

heron22 · 12/01/2009 09:37

hi rowing! i am sorry to hear about what you are going through. for whatever it is worth, i thought i would tell you that i only have 1 ovary because the other one had a tumour on it and was removed. having said that, once i got pregnant i was very paranoid about ectopic and got a scan at 6 weeks to make sure it was not ectopic.

hi tabitha, i could never wait to find out sex of my baby! but i can imagine it would be a lovely surprise good luck with your 20 week scan!

hi juicy, hello all
my section is early tomorrow morning, have to be at hospital at 5.30am! the lack of sleep starts already!

rowingboat · 12/01/2009 10:44

I was wondering whether they were going to induce you or it would be a section Heron.
Have you had a section before?
I had a myomectomy a while back, which leaves the same size cut as a section, and recovered quite quickly. The only thing was that I did need iron and refused supplements, but in retrospect I probably should have taken a couple, just to get my energy back.
Take it easy tomorrow and enjoy meeting baby two. Will be thinking about you - it's so exciting!

grownupbabes · 12/01/2009 11:34

So exciting - good luck Heron!! We don't care if you can't move for stitches, the baby is crying and you're half asleep... because your first priority has to be to get here on 40+ and tell us how it went, how you are and what you've got . We'll be waiting !

heron22 · 12/01/2009 11:48

hi rowing, i will have a section tomorrow. cant induce me because i've had a section already. frankly, i am happy to have another section cos i know what to expect.

i am very excited to meet baby 2!

i will post as soon as i can how it went etc

in the meantime, i know it is grey and dreary out there, but let us keep up our positivity !!!

vonsudenfed · 12/01/2009 13:44

Hello everyone,

I can hardly keep up with this thread and everyone, but I'm sure I will get the hang of this eventually.

Hello new people (newer than me people). Twiglettini - I had a m/c in August too, with no success since then, so am in the same boat as you. Except older.

Rowingboat - hope the scan makes some sense out of what has been happening for you this week. How are you doing right now? And you can definitely have the start of the placenta with a blighted ovum - I miscarried at 11wks with a blighted ovum and - well I won't go into details but there was really quite a lot of placenta then.

And grownup - that sounds like great news from the progesterone cream, that's a huge difference.

Well I am on CD29, and was starting to kid myself that something might have happened this month (even though I have a cycle of 30 days...) when my temperature dropped this morning, so it's just a waiting game now today. Gah, and indeed Bah.

And most importantly of all - good luck tomorrow, Heron!

Ilovechristmas · 12/01/2009 15:09

just wanted to pop in and say good luck to the ladies about to have their babies
ROWING - its very worrying, hope you get anwers soon xx

Tabitha8 · 12/01/2009 17:02

Fruit If I have a citrus fruit, I shall send him/her to you to put in your bowl .
Rowing I've been reading in one of my mc books that drugs may be used to treat an ectopic pregnancy if caught early enough rather than surgery.
Heron good luck for tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you in my dreams if I'm not awake that early.

CarryOnConceiving · 12/01/2009 18:33

Gosh haven't been on for 3 days and am waaaay behind!

Just popping on though too to say GOOD LUCK to Heron - hope all goes really smoothly. And yes, can't wait to hear the details so come back asap to let us know!!

Grownup - that's great about the prog cream. I'd be interested in the details if you can post a link. Do you just use it during luteal phase?

Rowing - take it easy, and hope your scan gets sorted soon xx

Gotta dash off, just bought a food processor [domestic goddess emoticon] - now just have to find out how to work it before I make tea

Hi to everyone else - will catch up a bit more later

Bumpless · 12/01/2009 19:24

Hi everyone, and most importantly, GOOD LUCK HERON!

Just bought The Fertility Diet by Sarah Dobbyn - anyone read it? Am slightly overwhelmed by the number of things that can wreck your fertility hormones and could end up living entirely on organic seaweed smoothies if I'm not careful, but am sure there's a sane balance that will help!

Had the bursting-into-tears-at-the-acupuncturist-experience this weekend, still reeling from the shock of such raised FSH levels, but felt much better afterwards.

Rowing, I'm so impressed with how stoic you are in the face of what must be unbelievable stress - I do hope people are being lovely to you and looking after you at home.

rowingboat · 12/01/2009 19:55

Hi COC, I'm imagining your kitchen ceiling covered in home made pesto, don't forget tot put the lid on, or make a seaweed smoothie or two for Bumpless.
Bumpless, I have just taken delivery of co-enzyme Q10, calcium and a kelp/wheatgrass/barleygrass/WD40/lawnmowerclippings tablet. Are they in your book??? [interested face]
Grownup that's great news about the LP!
Vonsud - sorry to hear about the temp drop! Poo!
Latest on getting fit for babies - started walking today, hoping to run next week - anyone else??
Plus taking forty supplements to be super-healthy.
The bleeding has pretty much stopped and it was a gorgeous day, very tired now.
Got a phone number for the scanning place, but it's perma-engaged, so don't have an appointment yet.
