What initial tests at the docs did everyone have?

I was sent for day 2 FSH/LH and day 21 progesterone by a locum doctor. Went back today for the results and was told I hadn't had enough tests. I have been sent to get the following:

Thyroid
Liver Profile
Kidney
Lipids
Glucose
Cell count
U&E
EGCR (could say EGFR?)
Destradiol
Prolactin

as well as a repeat FSH/LH and progesterone, all to be done on day 21.

Then I have to go back in 3 weeks for an internal examination and getting the results before they can refer me.

I'm really annoyed - why weren't all these requested at the initial doctors appointment?

Oh and trying since my mc September last year 'isn't that long then'

oh and the FSH/LH tests were fine and the progesterone showed I had ovulated.

sounds like you are getting really good care. i had day 21 test and an internal.

your dh should be tested.

I had:-
Thyroid
FSH
LH
Serum Oestradiol level
Prolactin level
Serum progesterone
Serum testosterone
Serum Sex hormone binding globulin

why do they need to do an internal before referring you?

TheGoat · 26/11/2008 11:52

check for cysts.

ClaireDeLoon · 26/11/2008 12:05

I know I'm getting good acre and I know this sounds very moany and ungrateful its just I thought today I would get a referral on. I guess I'm just disappointed.

DP needs to get his test results in hard copy and I will take them when I go back. We aren't at the same practice.

Can they find cysts in an internal? I often get very bad ov pain and have had a scan in early 20's to check for cysts. I'm 36 now and get severe pain on one side only every few months.

Or do you not mean ovarian cysts?

acre care

it is ok to be moany. it is a horrible stressfull process. you do have to bear in mind that they might not find anything wrong. basically the nhs will put you through the hoops but unless yhou have a condition you will be told to 'go away and have lots of s*x'.

i had an internal and was then sent for a scan cos gp thought she felt a cyst. i guess they are just looking for anything obvious before you are referred.

I had the blood tests on CD3 and CD21 and an abdominal scan. DH needs a S/A.

Really they should give you an internal u/s and either a HSG or a Lap & Dye. Some may do a PCT too to check your CM. I've been fighting for 4-5 years to get proper investigations to no avail. Its very tough and stressful. Its almost too late for us to ever have a family now since they have taken so bl**dy long.

Best of luck
