Sperm analysis question

My DH is going for an SA on Friday afternoon and apparently has to refrain from having sex for 3 days before that.
I'm feeling stupid - does that mean we can have sex today or not??

Never mind, we have good reason to think the ishoos are with me so I suspect the test will be fine regardless...

you may find it will need to be re scheduled anyway as the result will be greatly affected if you ''indulged''. it may be best to tell the analyiser when you last had sex as the result may show something that is not true as the quality of the sperm can be very different due the the life cycle of sperm and therefore could throw up something wrong with your DH if that makes sense?

I think we might just wait and see what the result is first before saying anything. If it is a bad result I suspect they would repeat the test anyway. And in the meantime I do not want to stress my DH by giving him something to worry about.

I figure there is about a 62 hour interval anyway; it's not as if we had sex this afternoon or anything...

yes, good idea as stress can also affect the result!!

it does tell you what the outcome nay be by having intercourse to near to the test sample in this last site but can not remember where within the text, sorry!!

Interestingly on a quick scan Wiki is the only one that talks about abstaining for a period and that says 1-2 days, which correlates with a study I found earlier today about the optimal time to abstain before freezing the sperm of cancer patients. Based on that it appears that 62 hours should be plenty.
Anyway, like I said this is really just a formality. They do it as a matter of course at our clinic, even if you are going there for female probs (I have tubal issues which we know about) since they can't recommend a course of action without being sure whether or not there is a male factor.
