icky question about periods

I am on my period but it is quite light and feels like it is finishing - would be 4 days of very light blood, barely need for pad. Def not pregnant - temp dipped at right time etc and had blood test that was negative last month.

Last month had odd period too - 3 days, two light one heavy then stopped abruptly rather than tail off.

Usually though I have very heavy periods. In June for example had period lasting over a week with heavy flow every day.

Is it normal for periods to be different every month? On heavy ones I get loads of clots, often large ones. On light ones hardly any.

Heavy ones feel like body having whole clear out. Light ones don't. Rarely any pain or discomfort though.

My 21 day blood test shows I ovulate.

So, question is, is this normal and am I more likely to conceive after heavy or light period or is that irrelevant?

I saw the doc after having strange periods myself. I was a week late then only bled for 1 day (very light), then cycle was only 20 days before very heavy period with lots of clots.
She did say this does happen and is 'normal'.
I have always had regular 28-32 day periods before this wacky time - would be when I start TTC, typical.
I would say this is normal and would not make any difference to conceiving but I am not an expert.
Hope someone else has some answers for you.

I had something similar happen after an ectopic - my periods went very light for a few months.
I did some reading and the general consensus seems to be that the heaviness of your period is not indicative of whether your uterus lining is any good - so a light period does not equal less fertility.

thanks mrshappy - bizarrely about hour after writing that it became very heavy and still is. still, feel like womb having proper clean out now ready for ttc this month.
