well i had my egg collection today and we got 16 eggs! was so shocked as at my scan monday he only measured 11 follicles and was talking about 8 eggs. obviously they might not all fertilise but so happy and cant believe how relatively easy this has all been.

I just wanted to say congrats to you muffins - I think it's great that you've done this. And 16 eggs is amazing! Bet you're making some couples very happy .

I've thought about egg donation in the past, and now that I'm taking longer to conceive #1 than I innocently expected back when we started back in Jan this year and understand a bit more what couples who struggle/fail to conceive go through I think it's an even more generous gift to give!

Not sure if anyone will even read this but feel I need to write it down as feeling very emotional and can't stop crying! Of the 16 eggs we got on Wednesday, 13 fertlised but 2 of those had let two sperm in so no good. Of the remaining 11 they have freezed four. So this leaves 7, 6 of which today they have said have gone to super stage and are already 5/6 cell when they hope for 2/3. And the other 1 looks like it will get there this afternoon. I just can't believe it I'm so happy for the recipient couple that I feel really tearful. I think the title I chose for this thread is very fitting .
The recipient couple are also feeling very overwhelmed, they have never had this with their own eggs and the embryologist says it could not be any better at this point. Going to stop writing now before I start blubbing again....

If you dont mind me asking?

Caitni · 31/10/2008 11:22

Oh muffins it makes me a bit emotional to read this too! I'm so glad you've shared this with us and I'm so glad that things are looking as good as they can for the recipient couple right now . Eggscellent news

MrsHappy · 31/10/2008 11:24

So great. Well done to you and your eggs!

I don't know it's difficult to describe really, I guess I only thought about doing it after having had DS. I just googled it at work one day, read some peoples stories and it just went from there. This was only back in June so quite recently. I'm so glad I did it though
