Does having a CS affect your ability to conceive another child?

So it takes longer to conceive or increases the chance of miscarriage or means you can't conceive at all?

Also can any other operation on your reproductive bits cause this (obv not a hysterectomy or anything)?

In rare cases a c-section can lead to secondary infertility.

I don't know any statistics or further details on this though.

I did read something about it but I had 3 sections and became pregnant each time with no trouble, including number 4.

How would a CS cause infertility? - as in the actual mechanics of it.

Didn't for me - CS for DS1,

DS2 and 3 were one night "oops" moments

The reason I'm asking is because I've had 2 operations -
one to have an ovarian cyst removed (had an ovary and tube removed as well) - my consultant told me it might take me longer to conceive than average. However I got pregnant v easily with DD.

However, she was born by emergency CS so that's the second operation.

I'm wondering if I'll have more problems conceiving this time...

Had 4 cs. 2 days off 2 yrs between ds1 and dd1, 4 days off a year between dd1 and dd2. 7 and a half between dd2 and dd3. Own choice on gap between last two, took me that long to decide I could cope again!!

I had a section with ds1 and became preg accidently when ds1 was 7 months old and I was still bfing him, so wasnt a problem for me

Well my mate has had 3 cs (1st emergency, the other 2 elective)

Her dds are aged 7, 5 and 3. She was 40/41 when she had her last child and afaik had no problems conceiving.

Any abdominal surgery can cause adhesions which can lead to, for example, your reproductive organs getting stuck where they shouldn't (which can delay conception, lead to ectopics etc). That goes for c sections as well as salpingectomies and other abdominal surgery. Does it mean you will have a problem? No, not at all.
