TTC Naturally with a low sperm count

Hi everyone

We have a nearly 2 year old DS and are ttc to conceive again, although DH has a really low sperm count. His last SA was on 7 October and was only 9 million per ml with a motility of 44%!

We had trouble ttc DS and took 2 years - DH's sperm count back then ranged between 13-20 million with an OK motility, but seems to have deteriorated since then.

We've been told we need IVF with ICSI but we just can't afford to pay for private treatment and aren't eligible for NHS treatment as we have a child already.

I don't know what our chances are trying naturally - I'm nearly 37 which will make it harder to conceive. I've tried putting DH on vitamins etc but it doesn't seem to make a difference because his problem is physical - he had an op for an undescended testicle as a child which was botched and his left testicle is so full of scar tissue, tangled veins etc that it doesn't work properly. The operation to correct it isn't available on the NHS.

I feel so depressed that we won't be able to have another child. Do you think we have any chance with such a poor sperm count?

KRabbit - we conceived with far worse figures! I can't remember the exact figures, but it was something like 6 million per mil with motility of 25% and crap morphology as well. We were one month away from starting IVF/ICSI

We used the Marilyn Glenville book "Natural Solutions to Infertility" and changed our diet completely.

We were both 36 when I conceived. We're now 40 and still trying for number 2!
