Egg donors

I've just been watching the lunchtime news and see that St Mary's in Manchester are doing a push looking for egg donors. I think I'm running out of time anyway as I'm now 35, but I'd seriously consider becoming a donor. Does anyone know anything about the St Mary's plea for help as I can't find anything on the internet about it? Sounds like becoming a donor is quite involved.

The HFEA are the governing body that regulate the egg donation process. I think the cut off age for donors is 35.

Thanks for that.... I'll give the Manchester number a call to find out more. Not sure how my hubby would feel about it, but will arm myself with info! My daughter has Turner Syndrome so I'd like to think someone else might do the same for her one day if she wants children.

Some places will allow donors slightly older than 35 I think. I'm just donating myself at the mo. I think it's great that they are going to raise awareness of the shortage of donors.

There seems to be a lot of "issues" with people being worried about the fact that the baby potentially coming to find the donor when it's 18+, I can kinda see where people are coming from with that and wondered how you feel about it. I need to work these things through in my mind. My instinct is I'd like to do it. Is it really just an egg....

As far as the finding out when they are 18 bit I think it depends on how the child is brought up and when they are told about their origins as to how they will feel/react. Unfortunately u can't predict the future but I just hope that any child born from my eggs would understand that it is a special thing to do and my reasons for wanting to donate. You do get to write a message which is stored by the HFEA which any child born will be able to obtain if requested.
I try and imagine how I'd feel if I found out I was conceived with a donor egg. I don't think it would alter that my mum is my mum but I would probably be curious about my biological mother as well.

That makes complete sense to me! We were going to adopt a few years ago, but then found out I was pregnant. So, we went through that whole thought process too. It's who you call mummy that matters.

Do advertise it, Muffins. I wrote it because I found so little about treatment from the egg donors perspective. (Also, it has a happy ending... so that should make people smile!)

Well had scan yesterday to check downregging had been successful, internal scan was really uncomfortable! Lining thin but still bleeding, 10 days now!! Consultant didn't seem that bothered..Also had some small follicles in each ovary which he didn't seem concerned about either, so started Gonal F yesterday. Feel bit down today. Keep swinging between thinking it won't work, thinking there'll be no follies next scan etc etc

EGG DONOR WAITING LIST IN MANCHESTER - ADIVCE/EXPERIENCE

I have just found out at St Mary's which was a shock given I have conceived several times that i have very low AMH levels. All my 4 pregnancies have resulted in miscarriages but I do have problems conceiving and in some cases it has taken two years to get pregnant again. I am 36 and now seriously considering egg donation, but no idea where to start and whether I will be bitterly disappointed with the waiting list. St Mary's have recommended stimulated cycle of IUI which I wil try, but I am not sure if my AMH is affecting natural conception. Is it better to go out and invite for egg donors?

Im 37 and am trying to find somewhere or someone who will let me do egg share or donations in exchange for reduced cost IVF. My local clinic the cut off is 35. Can anyone help?
