Severe Endometrisis & trying to concieve, help!!

This is my first time writing on something like this, but feel i have to do something before i go insane! Im 27 & i was diagnosed last year with severe Endo after 10 years of complete agony. I have been trying for just over 2 years to concieve but to no avail. I was given a 6 month go on Clomid, of which i am on my 4th cycle, but havent been monitered at all. Is this right? I get the feeling i should be getting my bloods done from what i am reading on othere blogs. Im so scared my Endo is going 2 get worse & eventually block my tubes, can anyone give me any advice? My consultant is now starting 2 cancel appointments as he is snowed under which is another worry, I feel like ive just been left 2 get on with it. Now only does the infertility side worry me, im also still in agony, bedridden for at least 2 days of the month. Any advice would be very gratefully recieved, i dont know where to turn next.

Aren't you supposed to have scans whilst on Clomid? I have no experience I'm afraid but clearly you're in pain and not happy so I'd try and get an appt if I were you. Good luck

have you looked into reducing symptoms through your diet?

are you monitoring your ovulation etc?

has your partner been checked also?

do you smoke/drink?

Thanks for your input muffins. Well i was under the impression i would need some kind of monitering, i have just read on here that some people are having scans so your right, but as the doc didnt mention anything ive naively just carried on as he said. Its so frustrating. Thanks for the luck! :-)

Hi Blinks. Yes i had the treatment last year, didnt improve my symtoms at all though unfortunately. Changed my diet, cut out dairy etc, no joy! My ovulation is regular as are my periods, that has never been a prob luckily. My hubby's been checked & he is ok (they are a little lazy but fine the doc said!). We've never smoked & we rarely drink. We are taking every recommended vitamin supplement going, still nothing.

Hi - first time writing but felt I should. Diagnosed with stage 4 endo at 26 (now 39). (2 days curled up with excruciating pain a month) Had 4 laser surgeries and it came back every time. Underwent IUI and IVF several times with no success. All the while considered as "unexplained infertility". Had chinese acupuncture for endo and after 3 months treatment ended up pregnant. Son 3 yrs old yesterday.

My endo is back, but control pain with mefanemic acid (ponstan). Acupuncture also very good for pain control for anything gynae. Worth considering. Really.

Always found that if unhappy with treatment, communicate. Don't be fobbed off. You know your body best, ask to see someone else if necessary. Anyway hope that helps in some way.

Thanks darkishhorse, its so nice to here success stories. Ive often contemplated acupuncture but never gone ahead with it, im at a point now though where i am willing to try anything. We're desparate to start a family & im at my wits end with the pain. Thanks again.

pips- I have had endo for nearly two decades myself so I know exactly the pain that is involved... it's a fucking nightmare at times.

i had the laser treatment twice and although the symptoms have come back both times, I eventually conceived DC1 and got to the top of the IVF list the week I fell pregnant. hardehar

a few years later, i fell pregnant with DC2 the first time we tried- couldn't believe it.

the only other tips i have are-

cut out caffeine and (poss TMI) after doing 'Le Deed', tilt pelvis up on pillows and, ahem, 'pleasure yourself' until climax so that your absorbing as much of the good stuff as possible....then, with pelvis still on pillows, lie for a good half hour. get hubs to bring choccies or summat.

are you temping, ovulation sticks etc? i gave up on them and just followed the change in discharge to know when I was ovulating.

What stage is your endometriosis at - were you informed post lap?.

If I were you I'd find another gynae as this one seems to be of not much use.

You should be monitored whilst on clomid as this is quite powerful stuff. It should also not be taken if there is definitive proof that ovulation is happening as it can have the reverse effect. Clomid is usually given to women who present with ovulatory problems.

Have you had a HSG (tubal x-ray) to see if your tubes are patent (open). This x-ray would not involve further surgery either.

Enough sperm will get to the cervix from where it cannot escape so resting with pillows under your pelvis post intercouse is actually unnecessary.

Have you read the book by Dian Shepperson Mills - its amazing really helped me with my symptoms/ gives guides for conception etc

attila- tilting on pillows etc (and apparently doggy style) can be very helpful actually if you have a tilted cervix and certainly shouldn't be just swept aside like that...

Blinks/Muffins- I was told my endo is stage 3/4 after my lap last year. I havent had a tubal x-ray, in fact i havent had much of anything! Its so frustrating! Im off 2 see my GP right now & im going armed with a sheet of un-answered questions. Hope she can do something. Will mention about the xray & about the lack of monitering whilst ive been on the clomid & see what she says. Thanks again for the support.
