Any recommendations of wonderful acupuncturists in NE or Central London/Harley St?

There are so many clinics and individuals with testimonials of success stories with acupuncture treatments for fertility. I just dont know if they are real!

Are there any real life mumsnetters out there who can recommend their acupuncturist? Ideally in the areas above, and not super expensive. i dont have major issues - i dont think - just interested in pursuing this as a possible help as i'm late 30's and been ttc no 2 for a while

I can very highly recommend an acupuncturist in Tufnell Park - not quite your preferred area, but she's 30 seconds walk from the tube station (zone 2 Northern line.)

Her name is Xiu Mei (Sue) and her clinic is Herbs and Health, 146 Fortess Road, London NW5 2HP 020 7485 2911. I started seeing her after ttc dc2 for 2.5 years with 36 day cycles. Within 6 weeks she had shortened my cycle and I conceived dc2. I would happily have seen her during the pregnancy (after 2 earlier pregnancy losses I was pretty anxious) but at 10 weeks she told me that I had no further need of her, which I felt showed real integrity. She is gentle, professional and speaks excellent English.

She works with a mixture of acupuncture and Chinese herbs and charged around £35 per acupuncture session and £28 per week for the herbs.

I know she had plans to move her clinic, so if you are interested and can't contact her on the above number, I can probably dig out an email address. There is another clinic with a very similar name off Kentish Town High Road, but it isn't her!

I highly recommend Gerad Kite at the Kite Clinic on New Bond Street - I saw him for an initial consultation then was treated by Ana. I had been TTC for 9 months and although not very long in hindsight I was very impatient. I did not really believe in alternative therapies but I do now. Gerad took my 'pulses' and told me I had to come back that same afternoon for a treatment with a female colleague (shock horror it was a perineal needle. I almost shot through the ceiling). We conceived my 7mo DS that evening. Oddly it was day 21 of my cycle and I had a spontaneous peak on the Clearblue monitor the following morning. Good luck

Dr Dan Jiang helped me through fertility treatment first time round (baby girl) and picked up my second pg within a couple of days of ovulation. I have referred quite a few friends to her who have successfully delivered healthy babies after several miscarriages and unsuccessful IVFs. Very kind but efficient too.

I only have her non-London clinic number but you will be able to get hold of her there and get the Harley Street details. No idea of her charges down there. She probably charges a lot less for us grimy northerners [grim]. 0114 266 2051.

I love my reflexologist - Sally Mumford in Crouch End/Muswell Hill, but have no success story yet...

thought I would up this as I am looking for one in similar area. North London- haringey enfield areas really. Any recommendations. I am using the british accupuncture council to find accredited people but apart from that I am at a loss and would love to hear some sucess stories.

Maybe we should have a 'reliable acus in your area' thread as it seems so many of us are asking the same question at the same time! I'm after someone in south London - ie Brixton/Clapham/Dulwich - or the Kings Cross/Camden area. Any suggestions greatly received!

You are getting it from a trainee but I dont think that matters too much as is cheap enough to have a lot more of it!

Really lovely, incredibly professional guy. Started seeing him in September after TTC DC3. Had 2 mc and just didn't seem to be getting pg. By 3rd Nov I'd got my BFP .The month I concieved I ovulated so strongly that I could actually feel it 'pop' and go down my tube. Am now nearly 11 weeks pg.

Heebeejeebee - Really sorry that you've experienced another m/c. It's bloody awful. Hope that you're healing.

I think he's pretty flexible. If you contact him thru his website he's great at calling back. Really hope that you can get to see him. I think he's worth his weight in gold.

Just wanted to add to heytheresantasgirl recommendation......I too have been seeing Ian Prytherch for acupuncture and he is fantastic,Ive already told lots of my mates about him as hes sorted my cycle out a treat! Hes a lovely warm guy who makes you feel totally at ease.xxx

I can recommend Alison Courtney who practices in North London. She is a trained midwife aswell as being an acupuncturist - I was trying to conceive and being in my 40s was not too hopeful. I found her to be really down to earth and very practical. I did conceive and has ds after my 42 birthday - good luck

Would like to add another recommendation for Ian Prytherch. After TTC for nine months without success, I (and my husband!) had 3 months of sessions with Ian. The month after our treatment ended, I conceived twins naturally

As well as the acupuncture, Ian gave us lots of emotional support and lifestyle advice. He really knows where you're coming from and is just a brilliant guy. Would highly recommend if you can get to central or south London.

I feel I have to share an unpleasant experience I had with Ian Prytherch, incase anyone is thinking of using him. I went to see him after TTC for a year and seeing the review here. My first session he was tactless and quite brusque. My third, he was unprofessional and aggressive. He was 30 minutes late for the appt, didn't apologise - OK not ideal but not a deal breaker - but when I told him while waiting I'd had time to think about how sad I was it was first day of my period again he stood up over me, and ordered me out of the room saying he had said he was sorry he was late but he wanted me to leave. He sat behind the reception in a huff. No treatment, no apology, quite frightening as no one else was in the clinic. Very weird. He's not registered with the British Association of Acupuncturists so no one to complain to. Avoid would be my advice.

It's my first post! :)
I just wanted to recommend Darren Rose who specialises in acupuncture for fertility in central London and also in Hackney somewhere (I didn't go to that clinic location).
He's really great and helped me get pregnant last year after TTC for nearly a year with what the doctor called "unexplained infertility"!!
He was also really nice and recommended a couple of other acupuncturist that he thought were great should I prefer to find someone else.
Oh and he also does free consultations which was really great knowing you can meet him and there's no pressure to sign up or lose money on a consultation with someone you didn't like ;)
Anyway, I was super happy with it all and as they say the proof is in the pudding and she is wonderful!
