Hello lovely mumsnetters!

I'm TTC #1, having been on the pill forever. Am charting and observing CM to help. CM has been rather scant, recently of the creamy/milky variety. Today is white and very stretchy. I'm on CD14.

So, question: Is this the elusive EWCM or does it not count, being white rather than clear, and might actually be the much-less-fertile "sticky" CM?

Thanks for your opinions!

My guess would be that very stretchy means it is more fertile than sticky stuff, but white is not quite as fertile as the clear stuff! Bearing in mind that sperm can live for up to 5 days, you are probably close to ovulating and should go for it!!

But maybe someone will come along who's even more au fait with CM than I am!

Very stretchy means its fertile or nearing fertile- if your charting it you should record it as fertile. and keep trying!
Sticky breaks easily when stretched.
Good luck. x

Existentialist,

I too wondered a lot about this, and found this link really useful (scroll down for photos).

TMI, but enlightening!

Hope this helps. I was really lucky to conceive in the first month of TTC no.1 and tbh I never quite understood whether I'd ever got any really fertile CM. The CM I did find I only could assess by sticking my fingers up (sorry TMI!) There was certainly never any question of wiping loads off the knickers! I guess everyone has different amounts. It did get clearer and more stretchy but I don't think it ever got to the "totally clear and stretching to 20cms" that they say it does!

Bumps x
