Thanks Diege!

Not sure why seeing GP, see MW for rest of appointments! Yes really want DH to hear HB too so will take him then YAY!

Im at home tomorrow too WHOOOP WHOOP!

GYo · 15/10/2008 21:57

hi gruff. I went for my 16wk check at 17wks and the mw listened to the HB. Dont think it matters too much about dates. Dh came in too which was great as he remembered to ask things I would have forgotten.

Also at home though working tomorrrow.

Congrats heebee! Fantastic news

GruffaloSoldier · 15/10/2008 22:57

Ok great, thanks Gyo!

GruffaloSoldier · 15/10/2008 22:57

Great about you being at home tomorrow too

kayzisexpecting · 16/10/2008 07:20

Morning,

Nat, I'm glad they did something about it and I hope the results are ok when you get them back.

Heebee, Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm at the MW this morning. Finger's crossed she can give me something for my heartburn as its driving me nuts!!

I'm really struggling at work. I'm only doing 4 hour shifts but by 2 hours into them I'm feeling dreadful and can hardly stand up. Why I thought I'd be able to cope until 37 weeks I don't know.

I hope everyone is ok!!

SesHasapinkline · 16/10/2008 07:29

Morning

Kay - have they reviewed your risk assessment at work recently? Do you have a chair or stool available behind the counter? Maybe talk to MW about this too as she may have some suggestions. Hope she manages to help with heartburn too.

Am of so many of you MNing working from home today. I need to head off for a meeting in Maidstone soon.

Heebee - hope you've woken up with a grin this morning!

OP posts:
kayzisexpecting · 16/10/2008 07:36

They haven't even done a risk assessment. My supervisor has told my manager we have but we haven't. I can't have a chair or anything because its a health hazard. My MW did say last time that I can go to my GP and he should be able to sign me off early.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 16/10/2008 07:37

Morning

Huge congrats Heebee I am really pleased for you

Kay, good luck at MW's, hope you get something sorted for work.

Gruff, took me a while to work your post out, I thought you meant the 6 week check after the birth, I was trying to figure out why you'd need to book it now LOL

So how long do I wait for the results? She said she'd ring, but I know I'll still be waiting at bed time unless there was anything absolutely dire.

SesHasapinkline · 16/10/2008 07:40

Thats disgraceful! In the retailer I work for, everyone gets a risk assessment which is then reviewed every 3 months. I'd def consider being signed off if it makes you feel this bad. I guess the only thing is that if you are signed off they can then force you to start your ML early - 35 weeks I think.
I'm v with them for you!!

OP posts:
SesHasapinkline · 16/10/2008 07:42

Morning NJ! I'd give them til 10am... Fingers crossed.

OP posts:
kayzisexpecting · 16/10/2008 07:50

I know that if you are signed off after 29 weeks they can force you to start your ML early. But I do get 9 months and I'm not planning to go back so I wouldn't mind.

I have a week off next week so I might just see how I am when I go back. I was stupid enough to think that this pregnancy would be exactly the same as the one with DS where I could have worked until the day before he was born.

SesHasapinkline · 16/10/2008 08:04

Good you've got next week off Kay

OP posts:
NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 16/10/2008 08:15

Agree with Ses, the week off might just give you enough of a boost to go a couple of more weeks or something. Though having said that, NEVER feel like you have to go to prove yourself to anyone, no one would make you feel like you're 'letting the side down' by giving into it earlier than planned, and if they did then tell them a big eff off from me!!

Gosh, 10am Ses? I was thinking if I rang before lunch they'd think I was being pushy! LOL I just really really really hope they don't insist on me staying in, it would be an absolute nightmare...

SesHasapinkline · 16/10/2008 08:36

Thought 10am would be pushing it but I know how impatient I would be!

Diege · 16/10/2008 09:51

Morning . Another very restless night - woke wide awake at 2.45, then lay in bed heart pounding worrying about early scan , and then not feeling sick yet (at 4.4 weeks ). Just as I was dropping off at 4.30ish bloody works van parked outside house and started digging up the road . You have to laugh...
Good luck with results Nat - they seemed to arrive in post at 11ish at our clinic. Def should be there by midday .
TINK - NCT sales are great. Be sure to get there early though!
KAY, your work is operating illegally by not giving you a risk assessment. If they won't even provide a chair for you they will have to 'suspend' you on full pay, or find another role for you that you can do without too much discomfort. I'd definitely try talking to your manager/maternity rights helpline ect. Plus are you in a union? Even if not if you contact your local branch they'll tell you your rights. You'll be surprised what a phone call from a union rep, oe even someone in the CAB can do. Do it!! You don't want to lose what you're entitled to [bossy emoticon]
GLASK, boo to sickness Are you still on your meds are does GP still want you to cut down?
Right, best get on and clear my pig-sty of a house, plus write another lecture...

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 16/10/2008 09:56

I'm on a different medication that the hospital prescribed called cyclazine, they are little tablets and are very strong... they give me a few side effects, but hold off the sickness once i've taken one... I was told when i'd ran out to go to the GP for more until i dont need them any more. I'm not going to see the GP who wanted me to come off the meds again!!

Diege · 16/10/2008 10:04

I've heard cyclazine is really good Glask - agree with you abotu seeing a different GP from the hopeless one!

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 16/10/2008 10:11

its good at keeping the sickness away... i find if i take it on an empty stomach i feel very spaced out and dizzy, but if i wait until i've eaten then its not as bad... but that means i'm normally sick a couple of times first thing before managing some breakfast!! Vicious cycle!! But at least i'm keeping my food down now, and if i'm only sick a couple of times in a morning its better than what i was like last week!!

Diege · 16/10/2008 10:42

Agree, going from hyperemesis to being sick in morning is bliss!

kayzisexpecting · 16/10/2008 10:49

Hello,

MW gave me Gaviscon!! YAY!!!!!! She has said that if I'm no better at work after my week off she'd like me to be signed off.

I can't have a chair as I am on the deli, because we have an oven, the hot counter and deep fat fryers(sp) its a health and safety issue and they have also said that they would have to give everyone else who is pg a chair too. Plus they keep saying "Oh we don't want you to be signed off early as we know you'd hate being stuck at home" which really is them saying they don't want me to be signed off so I can keep working.

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 16/10/2008 10:52

glad you got some gaviscon Kayz!!

Diege · 16/10/2008 11:08

Kayz, they really are taking the piss and they're acting illegally with the chair ruse. If they can't find a safe way for you to do you job, they eithyer have to offer yuou anoither role on same pay, or if they can't they have to suspend you on full pay until you're able to come back (if at all). That's why Police officers gets desk jobs when pregnant, women who carry heavy goods, or work with dangerous chemicals or x-rays etc get an alternative role within the company. It depends how strongly you feel about it of course, but they are breaking the law by not offering you an alternative role. I presume because of the chair thing that they wouldn't therefore employ a wheelchair user? See what I mean? They are making excuses - either that or they are totally clueless!

kayzisexpecting · 16/10/2008 11:14

They were told by the healthy and safety people that we couldn't have a chair so thats how they get round that one. When I was expecting DS me and a collegue(sp) who was on the deli with me asked and were told this. There is a small ledge I can perch on but if I'm seen by a manager I get in trouble.

Its really quite crap as we don't get our proper breaks either.
