We are and I have crohns which gives similar problems.

Are you finding that the IBS complicates the ttc?

tabby26 · 17/09/2008 12:48

Its not really complicated anything I just find that I am constantly thinking about what I eat and taking vitamins to try and supplement my diet as I don't feel I absorb as much nutrients.

If it isn't enough TTC on its own all the digestive stuff just adds to it!

How are you doing with it ?

Hi tabby, we are ttc, but separate to that I have just started wondering recently whether symptoms I am experiencing point to IBS.

Not sure if I'm just over-reacting/being a hyperchondriac (sp?).

Have you had IBS diagnosed? if so how is it tested for? or is it just assumed from your symptoms?

Sorry for all the questions, but just curious as to whether I'd be wasting a GP's time by going because I feel like things are just not 'quite right'.

Hi ya, I have had IBS for years... its completely harmless to you but just causes a lot of grief when you least expect it with varying symptoms! They can't really test for it just eliminate anything else and then they just put it down to that.... it nots harmful though so probably best to go to docs and just get it checked out ...

Thanks tabby.

I went to docs yesterday and, as you say, he is gonna keep a check on things and just try and rule out anything else that may be causing the symptoms I have.

Really horrible tho' as I am suffering with cystitis symptoms aswell, so don't know if the 2 are connected. Do you ever have this?

I'm shattered cos' I've been up so much in the night during the last week, or just not been able to settle in bed 'cos I feel so uncomfortable and so not going to sleep 'til early hours, and then waking dead early 'cos I need the loo!!

Hopefully stuff the doc gave me will settle things down soon.

Hi Mamamimi,

I used to suffer cystitis but have not had a bout of it in two years which I am so relieved about as I know how it feels.....hopefully what the doc has given you will clear it (hopefully antibiotics)...drink plenty of water too literally none stop fluid so you keep hydrated as it helps....

My saviour to it and the reason I never get it anymore and its probably TMI so I apologise...... lubricant! have never suffered since started using it....

Hope you feel better soon!! x
