Thought I'd start another thread as the last one was SO successful but is starting to take a while to load and I keep losing my place in it!

A quick update on my stats - on CD39 of third cycle since getting AF back after DS was born in April 2004 (10.5 months old).

Have endometriosis and PCOS so have decided to let nature take its course over the next few months and if I fall pg naturally, then so be it. If I don't, then we'll try clomid again (worked first time for us with DS).

Am still breastfeeding, so have erratic cycles - they were always long (so far have had AF visit twice and had 50 and 42-day cycles).

No idea when I ov - may try OPK's next month if no success this month (and don't think I am pg atm).

Think that's it!

Lots and lots of babydust to all the ttcers and lots and lots of babyglue to those who've just had BFPs (and more congrats!). xxx

first part of message was for sparkly obviously

munnzieb · 04/03/2005 09:15

((((hugs))))) sparkley, oh honney, I know u don't feel it now but things will get better, you just take ur time to heal, and eat lots of choc, (and look at young hester, 4 months after her MC she was PG again). you and DP have a good pamper sesh of each other.

Fresco - (bit of topic) but DH rang me last night and told me he's decided were off to edinbourgh for next postin......... HELP!!!!!...... I have some questions (cos i'vve only been there in november for 2 days to the Army camp)

  1. what's the castle like as apparently that's where we'll be living.
  2. is it always cold
  3. what's the area like in general, u know rural etc...
  4. importantly what r the shops like
  5. do u have any idea where the army estate is if it's not on the castle? I'm gonna look on the army web site, and if I don't like it i'll try and convince DH to stay in the south (i'd prefer aldershot/London but hwe wants scotland!) - I mean were already in Wales ...... Wahts wrong with England!!?? lol, anyhow hon, and advise is greatly appriciated on that one.
munnzieb · 04/03/2005 09:17

ooh and forgot to say - TAN damnnnn good to c u girl! lol, fingers crossed for u, (u can start the next thread!)

ooh and update on hester, she went for her scan and the little beanie is doing well. she's 7 weeks 3 days.

(4 months after as well SP, so you never know, I know it's hard but try to stay positive.)

expatinscotland · 04/03/2005 09:29

Munzi
Edinburgh. Just say it Edinbra and you'll have no prob.

  1. & 2) Yes, the castle is pretty much always cooler than the rest of town b/c a) it is right on the water b) it is one of the highest points in town so catches a lot of wind

3)the area around the castle is the mostly densely populated place in town and the biggest tourist spot in town. It is a/thing but rural. If you are bringing a car, I hope they allocate parking to you b/c it's hard to find in the Old Town where the Castle is and the parking attendants are minions of Satan.

  1. The shops are the same as any you'd find in the UK and the high street is an easy downhill walk from the Castle. However, there is no good chippy near the Castle and it's necessary to walk a bit downhill to Nicolson Street to find a good one. There is one in the 'Royal Mile' that flanks the Castle but it's PANTS and a rip off. On the plus side, you are walking distance to Starbucks.

  2. I knew a fella who actually lived in the Castle when he was in the Army, but he was also single at the time. Dunno where they put couples.

Best o' luck. It's nice and chilly here today but clear and no wind. Bonus.

Tania2 · 04/03/2005 09:32

munnzieb · 04/03/2005 09:34

thanks ES - (that's put me off a bit) I like country life, will have to look into the married Quarters.

Tan - will do hon, send her a CAT i'm sure she'd love to hear form you.

Tania2 · 04/03/2005 09:37

Thats an idea will do so. Thanks

expatinscotland · 04/03/2005 09:41

I strongly suggest a visit up here to see if it's s/thing you can handle then. B/c it is incredibly packed in around the Castle. It really is. If you're a die-hard country fan, it might not be for you unless it's temporary. There are more suburban and/or rural areas around, but they are a ways out of the city and necessitate a commute. The city itself is much of a 'tenement city' in nature, with a good deal of the housing in the form of flats or semi-detached housing unless you're, well, let's just put it this way, the average price of a two-bedroom 'home' (and this isn't to say 'house') is between £170-£180,000.

piffle · 04/03/2005 09:51

I've been away for a while too after my ectopic in November, we also had to wait for some genetic counselling as our dd has a condition which although mild can be serious too if unlucky
However odds given were 0-5% likely to be closer to 0% so after a few heart to hearts DH has agreed another baby is a good thing
Now we just have to try and make it!
I am allowed to ttc as of 15th Feb so we have been busy! AF due yesterday and not arrived but as it took 16 mths to conceive the ectopic, not hopeful to be that lucky yet.
Baby dust and hugs to all

Diege · 04/03/2005 11:02

Just catching up with the stream as away since Tuesday.Day 27, but no ovulation this month so just waiting now for AF - feels almost like being on holiday knowing I can go to the loo withiout psyching myself up for the worst!(tmi!)Will buy Persona this month as figure I'll end up speding that much on OPKs anyway.

expatinscotland · 04/03/2005 11:13

In the same boat here, Diege. Having awful PMT, however, and can't wait till Tuesday when AF arrives to bring relief! Gonna take one of those anti-bloating tablets just now.

Diege · 04/03/2005 11:41

Expatinscot - how do you know you've not ovulated? OPKs? Not sure how long this cyle should be as 35 days last month. Are anovulatory cycles shorter do you think?

expatinscotland · 04/03/2005 11:51

OPKs here. Annovulatory cycles can be any length. My sister has PCOS (she conceived two children naturally, however), and when she wasn't on the Pill her cycles were just all over the place in length and no O.

munnzieb · 04/03/2005 12:37

ES - if u don't mind me asking, how long did it take ur sister to concieve naturally with PCOS, one of my friends has it, and she's v v down about not having af (well 1 in 6 months) and thinks she'll never have children, so i'm trying to give her as many examples as poss of positive results form PCOS.

expatinscotland · 04/03/2005 12:40

She didn't know she had it till after she had her kids. She just always had irregular cycles and didn't twig as to why. But she didn't have any problem conceiving - maybe her timing was right, b/c she did O, just not every cycle. After her husband had the snip, however, she started having problems w/weight gain, excess hair, spots, etc. It was then that her PCOS was determined, after lots of tests for other things. She's on the Pill now, however.

smellymelly · 04/03/2005 12:45

Hi Piffle - I just popped in to see how everyone was getting on, and I was sorry to hear about your ectopic.

I wanted to let you know I had one in Nov 03 which ruptured while on holiday in Paris. I lost a tube with it and was devastated as I expect you are.

But there is hope. I was on a ttc thread a while back, and I am now looking after my 11 week old twins.

Good luck to all those who are trying this year.

popadopalis · 04/03/2005 18:23

Hello Everyone!! Just popped in to say hi! Been busy all day and have to go out now. Hopefully have more time tomorrow but maybe not as we are having a carpet fitted and the house is upside down!

Hulababy · 04/03/2005 21:07

Evening CD6 here so nothing to report right now on the TTC front from me. I have decided not to bother with temping at all for it bit though. Will monitor CM though and will use the OPKs I have.

Been 'off' the TTc thread for 3 or 4 days - just been busy - so feel very much out of it. Loads of messgaes on here and I am sure I have missed tons. Will have to find some reading time. Hope everyone is play.

HellKat · 05/03/2005 07:09

Hi Munnzieb.right to answer your questions:

a) the castle.its situated right in the middle of the town, and Edinburgh is the only capital i know that you can stroll on any streets and you can see hills and castles from.its very sweet and picturesque. I am talking for someone who likes rural sceneries, no husle and busles that kind of stuff. its a city really really worth experiencing. The scots LOVE partying, they have such a great sense of living and they know the quality of life ( nothing against the english, SORRY if i offend anyone, but they havent got a clue on how to enjoy a nice and peaceful quality of life/ family life).
and the castle is nice to visit.well there is nothing really to see but everyday at 1pm there is the cannon that announces the time, its just a tradition.however, the palace is booming of interests.

  1. is it always cold? NO!! at the moment, or until 2 days ago, it has snowed for about a week but today its really sunny.Scotland, is a country where i have seen 4 different seasons in the same day.The kind of cold you find here is not humid but dry so its doesnt go in your bones.its very bearable.i have really adapted. never adapted in london although i staied 10 years in london. and beleve me i am very sensitive to the cold.

  2. the area is absolutely beautiful. we have been 4 times in the Highlands and i always want to go back.have been everywhere in the South and its very picturesque, scenic. I must say i never speak badly of scotland cos i fell in love with the country the day i came here. And the scots are very patriotic, they love their country. Do you know that the Scots are the only folks who buy their own souvenirs?

  3. The shops are good, especially on Princess Street, the main street in Edinburgh.its really for shopholics.

For the army, i have not got a clue, i am sorry.

I hope to have convinced you? Just go to Scotland!!! you will NEVER regret is.hehe

fresco · 05/03/2005 10:00

yes, ES is right with the prices, houses are very expensive but mayb the army have ways of housing couples? i will admit my ignorance where the army is concerned as i havnt got a clue how it works. But do you have to stay in the capital or can you stay around by the coast? there you would find some nice 'cheap' flats at about 20 mn travelling from the city. our flat in cockenzie was £ 375 for a 2 bed.

If you like rural life munn, you will be spoilt here. Where do you stay here ES?
