New thread over here!!

NJ i delivered DD in my bedroom alone as DH was passed out downstairs and the midwife was on the landing telling the 2nd midwife i wanted to start pushing... i delivered DD in 2 small pushes and the midwife threw her phone over the bannister and down the stairs to collect her!!! wasn't bad though, was proud of myself!!

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 02/09/2008 16:08

Clairy if it is any help, I worked out I must have OV'ed on around CD9 when I got pregnant this time. Which is very early for me. I think until you know your cycles very very well, and know what can upset them, then the best plan is just to GOF every other day from last day of period till first day of next!

Besides, it is mucho fun

GYo · 02/09/2008 16:08

LOL Glask- this is also the thread of dramatic births!! Sounds impressive

Is it less painful if short and sharp?

OP posts:
glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 02/09/2008 16:10

she was much less painful than DS, but she was also a pound and a half smaller than he was, and it had only been 15.5mths since i'd delivered DS... so i'm gathering i was also still 'stretched' a bit inside.

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 02/09/2008 16:13

and it had ben a planned home birth so i felt much more relaxed, and i knew what i was doing already too...

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 02/09/2008 16:16

Problem is the IU is constantly exercising the uterus, it is like a constant work out so by the time the birth is actually happening, the muscle is so good at it's job it happens too quickly. I don't think there is anything to slow down a labour, if it was pre-term and you'd got to a hospital there are things they can do to stop it, but they wouldn't do that at full term, and getting to the hospital is the problem!

Couldn't go in a taxi, firstly taxi wouldn't let a labouring woman on board despite the films! Secondly is the car seats. Thirdly, when I am in the throws of labour, the very last thing I want to do is move, I am very much a 'lay down on your back and open legs' kind of birther!! LOL I can't do it any other way.

I actually am not (that) worried about delivering alone, but am more worried about DS2 (and DS1 if he was here) I am not a quiet birther, I scream like a banshee , the kids would be besides themselves, and there is nothing on this earth that could stop me being like that.

Ah well, what will be will be (she says now knowing there is a long time to go yet! Don't ask me in December if I am still so relaxed!!)

Teuch · 02/09/2008 16:19

Hello ladies. Just made a pathetic attempt at catching up with everyone but there is no way I will have managed...

congrats to the BFP's since my last visit - Glaskham & SES wahey!! Also, I see Esme on the list but I missed that one, high five to you too!

Cal - my thoughts are very much with you. Please don't have any expectations of yourself at this time. Give yourself time to physically heal and then start dealing with the emotional stuff. Cry, cry and cry some more, rage at the world, and at DH then hold them close and let your family know how much you love them. I know you have no idea how you are going to get through this right now, but you only have to look as far as Diege's posts to see how resilient us women are . Take care.

Lardy - I hope you are finding some strength in your daughter and from people around you. Come back when you are ready.

NJ - Glad things are going well, depsite the contractions and annoying MW appts! Another boy!! How fantastic!!!

Diege - as I said, you are sounding good gal! Fingers crossed for you, cos obviously you can't cross anything...

And, hey....can we not talk about birth??!!

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 02/09/2008 16:20

haha NJ- screaming like a banshee- DS slept through me labouring with DD so i must be pretty quiet!!

GYo · 02/09/2008 16:30

Good point there by Nat. As soon as you start thinking about cycles etc, it can screw them around and change everything.

As she says, GOFing every other day is way forward

OP posts:
glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 02/09/2008 16:30

thanks teuch, and how are you doing?

firesam · 02/09/2008 16:32

hello all - I joined a thread and the lost it.

am a namechanger (sil's on here!) anyhow I have 1 DS, had 3 m/c's, and hoping that i'll be quick with DP to catch again - heres to a sober xmas! currently CD 12, DP had ahem probs on sun for last attempt so didn't push it last night - but will do today & thurs woohooo!

anyhow hope to get to know you all (and i keep up! lol)

GYo · 02/09/2008 16:54

Hi Firesam, glad you found us again.

We will always have the word Wagon in our thread titles- so you can search for that if you lose us again.

Sorry to hear you had 3 M/Cs- were they all after DS?

Are you on our list already?

OP posts:
SesHasapinkline · 02/09/2008 17:31

Hi Firesam and Clairey! Welcome back!

Teuch - good to hear from you!

NJ - fantastic news at no consultants but can't imagine giving birth alone I guess from the sounds of things it won't take too long though....

Glaskham - between you and NJ that's enough dramatic births for this thread thank you very much!

Clairey - the advice the others have given you is good. Until I started monitoring my cycle, I always assumed I ovulated around cd14 so focussed our GOFing between cd9 and cd15. I discovered though that I normally ovulate around cd17 so was really minimising our chances. Just keep GOFing every other day!!!

GYo - glad you had good porridge! What's for tea then??

SesHasapinkline · 02/09/2008 17:34

Diege - meant to say keep GOFing and it can still happen. We didn't GOF the day of ovulation or the day before ovulation but the day after and 2 days before. So far it seems to have worked....

(Sorry I've done 2 days without a hpt now and am starting to doubt myself! CBD tomorrow morning for me!)

lardybump · 02/09/2008 17:42

evening ladies I am just popping on quickly. I stayed at my mum and dads last night as things were getting really bad and we were both saying things we didn't mean.. Dont know what is going to happen yet as we havent spoken since, thanks for all your nice wishes....

I will be back as soon as I am settled....

GYo · 02/09/2008 17:45

Hi Ses

How was your day? Any luck with interviews?

Funny you should ask re: Tea. Making fajitas since Im working here today and have time to prepare.

How about you?

OP posts:
SesHasapinkline · 02/09/2008 17:53

Interview went well actually and I'm going to offer her the job. Also the job she wants is one we've been struggling to fill for a year!!!

Didn't have any food in the house so went to Morrisons and felt really uninspired so just going for chicken and chips with carrots and brocolli. Have to have gravy as well

I'm just watching an old episode of Friends on E4. I can watch Friends for ever. This episode includes flash backs to when they were all college age. I love it!

tinkhashadherfirstkick · 02/09/2008 17:54

tink - moving this month does sound scary!! Also will be fab once we're in though

Diege · 02/09/2008 22:46

Hello! Had a hectic evening with everyone arriving back from hols, and then frantically ironing names on to uniforms!
Fitted in a quick gof though (thanks for the words of encouragement ladies though not holding out much hope for this month). Off to bed now, and still haven't had more than a skim through posts. Good for you NAT on holding your ground, and great that you avoided consultant! HI LARDY - be strong, you'll get through this I promise, and at least you have confronted things and are dealing with them directly.
SES, step AWAY from the HPTs!!!!!
TEUCH, really great to hear from you, and trust me everything is very much uncrossed . Thanks for your comments too ; feeling much better, though felt a bit strange going back to work today and planning the new term when I thought I woulod only be there for half of it.
Hello to everyone else!
Right, bed for me!

SesHasapinkline · 03/09/2008 06:27

Morning! Another early one for me - woke up at 5am!
Just done the new posh CB digital thingy.....

Tells me I am pg (phew!) and it reckons I'm 4-5 weeks.

It was v easy to use - just like an ordinary test. In about 90 secs it told me I was pg and then had to wait about another 2-3 mins to find our how many weeks. What I find a bit strange is that it tells you how many weeks since conception instead of how many weeks pg you are. There's then a table on the box and leaflet to refer to so as to convert that into what it calls "how your doctor will date your pregnancy based on a 28 day cycle".
So my test actually says 2-3, but that is weeks since conception and translates to 4-5 weeks pg!
The various timescales you can have are:
not pregnant
pregnant 1-2 weeks (3-4 weeks pg)
pregnant 2-3 weeks (4-5 weeks pg)
pregnant 3+ weeks (5+ weeks pg)

It claims to be 92% accurate in dating conception.

For me it was fine and seems to tie in as I think I was 4 weeks yesterday. I can imagine though that it may be confusing for many women. The conversion to no. of weeks pg is only accurate for those with a 28 day cycle or close and th 8 in 100 people who it isn't accurate for, well it may panic them.

As someone who panics easily, I think on balance I don't want this particular advance in technolgy!

Review over!!

calsworld · 03/09/2008 08:06

Hi, was about to post this....

"Morning all, have woken in lots of pain today...could it be an infection or something? Its going from the right hand side of my tummy right down to my fanjo. Its only just started but its very very sore."

But have been for a poo and now all is much better .

Think things are coming to an end now (physically) which is helpful as I feel quite good emotionally. I think the big meltdown on Friday has really helped get over things, I know things will come back at different times but I feel like I'm doing pretty good. Not sure I'll feel like this when I have to go back to work of course.

Teuch, thanks for your kind words - to be honest, Diege, Ses and NJ have been a massive inspiration and source of support, I kind of feel "If they can do this, so can I" and that's really helped to keep things in perspective for me.

Lardy, so sorry to read your news, if there's anything anyone can do, please let us know and do keep posting as we do care. I feel like I've been here long enough to get away with completely flouting the wagon rules by administering a big fat

Ses - the test sounds clever but I too can imagine lots of confusion. It would be useful for midwifes if it measured 8 - 12 weeks wouldn't it!

Tink, it must be lovely to feel your little acrobat kicking well.

Hi Firesam, Hi Clairey

SesHasapinkline · 03/09/2008 08:14

Morning Cal! Sorry you woke in pain but glad the poo has eased things!
Glad the physical side of things is settling down. Glad we've helped but don't worry about the emotional rollercoaster. It's perfectly alright to post on here that you're fine and then change your mind and have a good cry or rant!
As for going back to work, I remember tht looming over me but tbh after the first day back and seeing people for the first time (which was tough), it then helped me to focus on the rest of life a little more. I think what I found most difficult was everyone else carrying on as if nothing had happened when my world felt like it had fallen apart.
I think you're doing really well though and it's right to be taking it a day at a time.

tinkhashadherfirstkick · 03/09/2008 08:40
