Hi Everyone,

I am on my first tof clomid, I am now on day 26 of my cycle so due AF around Sunday. And i have been told that i should be getting my progesterone levels tested aswell as follicle tracking??

I have had my prog levels tested on day 21 and day 28 of cycle and level is 34, which they have said is fine now. But I think other people have had much higher.

Also i have not been offered follicle tracking.

Please could anyone give me their advice or experiences on clomid??

Thanks xx

p.s. fingers crossed i wont need to worry and AF wont show up , and i get a BFP!!

On my first cycle of clomid I had follicle tracking 3 times (one about day 8, one at about day 13, once 7 days after I thought I'd ovulated along with a progesterone test).

I believe a progesterone level of over 30 shows you have ovulated.

hi im on clomid, what is folicle testing doc never mentioned anything about that to me!

Vix67 · 22/08/2008 14:59

i think its something to do with the size of follicles on your ovaries??!! they need to be a certain size to help you conceive. Wheely is this right??

Numpty i noticed one of your other messages on the other thread, and you mentioned they are scanning you, what is this??

All i have been given is chlomid and some blood tests on d21 and d28 to see if mr prog level has gone up.
Do any of you know what your prog level is??

xx

ok i got some answers now, the scan was for the folicle tracking to see if you you have an egg or eggs to ovulate, my scan result was that i have 2 eggs this month and will ovulate this weekend, so gonna be busy!!! blood test for prog is to check that ovulation did actually take place. at least thats the impression i got from the quack this morning. dp has quite a low motility in fact only 30% of them swim forwards!! fingers crossed they make the journey this weekend.

Hi! I think its normal to not get offered any follicle tracking or blood tests if you're on Clomid? I wasn't offered any, nor were 2 friends I know who took it, both of them in different parts of the country to me. However, I had follicle tracking on 2 cycles as part of 'natural cycle IUI' 4 years ago. Basically they scan you every few days in the first half of your cycle to check your follicles are growing. By mid-cycle one of your follicles should be bigger than all the rest, a 'dominant' follicle. This is the one that will release the egg. My scans showed my follicles grew to a certain extent but I didn't get a dominant one (so treatment abandoned both times). But the good news: last year I took Clomid (only half a tablet a day) and now have a beautiful baby boy! I didn't get any blood tests for prog until after I'd had a postive pregnancy test but when I did prog count kept rising. Hope all goes well for you, will be thinking of you xx

Vix67 · 24/08/2008 12:01

Thanks everyone for your messages. Congratulations dorajo on your little boy!! I am praying it happens for me soon!!

I think I might give the hospital a ring this week to see if this month i can get my follicles checked!! it's worth a try i spose

I'll keep you posted on how i get on xx

buttercupbabe · 27/08/2008 15:28

Hi I had clomid and follicle tracking. The reason they track you is so that they follow the dominant follicle/s that cycle. Each month you can have several follicles on your ovaries but usually only one or two mature to the right size (22mm I seem to recall)and then they rupture releasing the egg -ovulation. They usually need to do a few scans so that they can see which follicle/s are maturing (the dominant ones)and once they get to the 22mm mark they assume you will ovulate and usually perform a progesterone test 7 days after ovulation. Hope this helps. They don't always follicle track but they should in case your ovaries produce too many dominant follicles and then you could be looking at multiple babies if they all got fertilised..... Quite rare I think!

Vix67 · 27/08/2008 20:59

Thanks baby and butter.

I rang the docs today and asked if i could have follicle tracking, and spoke to his receptionist who was rather snotty and said ' you only need this if we think you are going to have an early menopause???!!!! '

she then said she has just returned from her holidays and hasnt got time to find out my results from progesterone blood test and to ring back later in the week...... charming!!

bet she never had any probs conceiving!!

Hope you're all well!! I'm on day 2 of my cycle and have stocked up on grapefruit juice, ov sticks, pre seed and have my digital thermometer at the ready ha ha

not that im obsessed or anything!!

ah bless...i hate it when people are snotty. she clearly doesnt understand. call back tomorrow if you need to know. Tell her that it is rather important actually.some people simply need to be told....they shouldnt be in the job dealing with people if they are going to treat you that way! ah....i say put her behind you and move on! good luck this month...let me know how its going! keep ya chin up x

Vix67 · 27/08/2008 21:15

Yeah I will do!!

I am feeling more positive today. Just looking forward to getting rid of my AF this month and then i can get trying again!!

Lots of luck Vix. Some people who don't have any problems conceiving can sometimes be really insensitive and make stupid comments. Really hope all goes well for you.

Vix67 · 28/08/2008 11:05

Thanks butter, im gonna ring her again today

OP posts:
babymadness · 28/08/2008 17:53

Vix67 · 29/08/2008 09:43

OP posts:
Vix67 · 29/08/2008 10:18

OK, I feel a bit guilty now!! I rang her again and this time she was v nice, my progesterone levels were fine , or so she said!!
What do you all think??

Day 21 level 34 and Day 28 level 30.
She said as long as the day 21 is over 30 then im ovulating?!?!

Then she said Good Luck with everything, so then i felt really guilty

OP posts:
buttercupbabe · 29/08/2008 14:31

That sounds really positive. Let us know how you get on.

babymadness · 30/08/2008 14:08

ooo that sounds good...i think anthing 30 or over is good....well done you!! good luck trying this month....try to think positive...your ovulating so your half way there....

babymadness · 30/08/2008 14:15

oo i have a question...i had my scan on day 14 and there were 4 folicles all together...and all a good size...i was convinced i had ovulated two days previously....could one folicle have burst and produced and egg....or do all the folicles disappear when one bursts?? how confusing!

ps also...i am really bloated now...day 19 of cycle is this anything??

Vix67 · 30/08/2008 21:38

Thanks girls.

baby i am not sure about the whole follicle thing, but do you use ovulation sticks?? I buy them online from accessdiagnostics.co.uk or smefertility.co.uk and you can get 50 of them for about £12 - £15. This might help confirm when you do ovulate?!

hello all! new to this and first post so here goes! So good to read about everyone elses experiences, doesn't feel like am going through it alone now!Been prescribed clomid as have PCOS took it for the first month and I ovulated apparently due to progesterone blood test- I took it on day 2 after my usual cramps but I do have spotting for about 4 days before this ( so could be day 6?) my body temp went up and I had some cramps around ovulation- but then period came as usual Sad now on second month- took it as soon as got my period this time and now I don't think have ovulated- no body temp rise, no cramps nothing... so dissapointed, now not sure when to start taking clomid next month... any advice?
