Anyone ever used the turkey baster method and got pregnant? Any advice?

After a year of trying to get pregnant naturally we have decided to give it a go. Dp suffers from delayed ejaculation (he can ejaculate during masterbation but not sex easily) and i ovulate infrequently, so we have decided to try and give things a helping hand.
If he was to masterbate into a 'cup' and then into a syringe we could then insert it at hopefully the right time. Well thats the plan! Anyone had any success with this method or any thoughts?

Considering the fact that some external stuffs (syringe, air etc) are involved in this process (in comparison with the normal intercourse), just wanted to know if conceiving by this method would affect the physical or mental health of the baby in any way? Are the odds of giving birth to a healthy baby through this is same as the intercourse?

We tried this method for the first time this month and it didn't work for us. I know one cycle is too early for anything.

We are really not sure if the sperm got deposited in to cervix. We inserted the syringe as long as it was comfortable with hips raised and laid in the position overnight. How tall should the hips be raised? We used two normal sized pillows under the hip. Is that sufficient?

@lastchance15

Have your gf lie down in the position for at least 30 to 40 minutes. Some semen definitely drips out after that. It won't affect the chances of conceiving in any way. If you are really concerned about the drip, then just do it before going to bed and ask her not to get up for anything until morning. That way not even a single drop would come out. I may not be the right person to give advise, but just said what ever worked from our experience.

Please ignore my previous post as the test was done pretty early.

I am so happily returning back to say that this method worked for us in the first try and my wife is now 9 weeks pregnant! We used one ml syringe and sterlized cups. We ordered them from Amazon. We never expected it work so quick and thought it might take couple of cycles before we get there ! We followed the exact instructions mentioned in this thread. Lying with the hips elevated for half an hour. We did this one day before ovulation, one the ovulation day and two days past ovulation just to make sure. We would like to thank everyone who had posted about their success stories and tips in this thread from bringing our baby dreams to reality. God bless.

How far in do you have to insert sperm to beable to co concieve? Would you have to get it as close to the cervix as possible?

Just into the vagina should be enough. They can swim up from there. Close to the cervix increases your chances at conception, but also the chances that sperm cells that aren't really "fit" get in there.

Can anyone say why one should not use a glass container?

Plastic can contain estrogen-ish substances, which wouldn't be healthy for the fetus, so why no glass? For all I know, glass doesn't react with most chemicals.

Hi, I am a new surrogate, I just used the syringe method yesterday, for my "friends" stayed still for a hour, and then had to pee, will it still have a chance?

Make sure you suck air in and back out of the syringe before you suck the sample otherwise a lot of what you are injecting may be air (and could be why not as much is inside the syringe as there is left in the cup)

I realise this is an old thread, but still useful.

The reason for not using glass pots is that they are colder at room temperature than plastic pots or condoms and so it shocks the sperm too much

I am so glad to see this. I am not alone 😊. We tried this method for the first time after 5 years of trying to have a baby. My period was due yesterday but still no sign of it. Fingers crossed. Let’s hope God will bless us 😍. I felt great reading everyone’s experience and did exactly what was advised here. I am happy to be a part of everyone’s journey here. Thanks for sharing.
