Considering ivf

My husband and I are considering ivf. we have been ttc for 2 years now. We have a dd 3yrs but it took 2 years with her and 2 miscrriages inbetween. At the moment I am under the nhs having tests. I have had bloods taken during this month, and an ultra sound scan. I have got a appoitment in a couple of weeks to discuss my bloods and if they show I am ovulating then he said he would send me for a xray where they inject your fallopeon tubes to check they aren't blocked. After that if they are ok then he said IVF is the only option. We are not entltled in the nhs because we have a daughter so we will be going privately.

I am 38 so thats why we don't have much time. Does anyone know anything about my situation, how I would go about finding a good clinic/surgeon, any advice please really

We were much in teh same boat before DD was conceived naturally. although we were entitled to NHS, we wanted to go private. The consultant gave us a list of clinics (there were loads because we're in London).

I had fallopian tubes thing done to me on Nhs and I remember it took a while to get appointment. If you're in a real hurry, you might want to consider doing taht privately too.

if you are ovulating and your tubes are not blocked you could try IUI - less invasive than IVF and a lot less expensive.

Once you are in the system - ie you have had all the investigations done - you won't have to wait that long.

The checking of blocked tubes is called an HSG. People have told me that have managed to get pregnant after this procedure.

Also, if you are not ovulating, your consultant may prescribe Clomid (if you are suitable candidate). I agree with mslucy IUI is much cheaper. However, has your husband had any investigations? Your consultant should give you honest advice and tell you what treatments are best for you.

Have you been checked for PCOS or Endometriosis?
