OK - BB ttc dc2 since March 2007 - a year and 5 months. Dc1 is 3yrs 6 mths. Have used chance, ovulation tests, cm monitoring, bbt. Taking folic acid, evening primrose, multivitamins, black cohash and dong quai. Sex has taken on a very functional mood despite all efforts not to focus on ttc. Cut out alcohol, down on caffeine and all foods considered risky.

Concerns - secondary infertility, dc1 never knowing what it is like to have siblings, have embarked on medical fertility tests. Really want to have a second child (always wanted 3) but feel
a) greedy - at least have 1 dc unlike many b)envious - so many friends seem to get pg multiple times at the blink of an eye
c) lucky - I really appreciate how precious my dc truly is because I have learned not to take for granted my capacity for bearing children.

I feel like I am dealing with this problem in a sort of vacuum. My friends who have multiple children don't seem to understand how upsetting not being able to choose the size of my family is, and yet I do not (understandably) get much sympathy from couples who are ttc their first without success. So noone thinks this is a serious problem, except for me and dh because we want more SO very badly.

Anyone else feel the same? Having similar probs?

Any heartening stories?

BB- are you sure you actually started your period or was it just "spotting" I used to get very confused with this but realised I was actually spotting for several days and my temp drop only occured on the day "proper" bleeding took place - Did that make any sense??!

xserialshopper · 06/08/2008 14:23

Something just doesn't sound right Bluebutterfly about your period[puzzled emoticon] I'm like you, 2 days heavy then tapers off. I've never had spotting.

Now that we can't bd until after my tube clearout I've been feeling ever so sexy and have had to use real mental constraint to stop me from jumping on my DH If only he know It's never like this when we're ttc sod's law I suppose.

Bluebutterfly · 07/08/2008 08:36

pinkmook - I am wondering if it was just some spotting last week, followed by my period over the weekend. Still - very unusual for me to have that happen. I do need to get my hormones checked out - I think things have been haywire since having ds.

xserial - you can be strong - yes, ttc does rather put a damper on bedroom spontanaeity, so annoying isn't it?

Yes, and meant to say dh got his tests back and he is fine - "lots of healthy swimmers" we were told, so if there is a physiological problem, it is me. Great.

But BB look at it this way - at least there are only problems with one of you - fertility is a combined thing. There are definitely probs with my DH's sperm (low count, motility and morphology - the hat trick!) and there may be problems with me too. And if the issues is on your side (and there no guarantee there is a major issue) female sub fertility is a lot more easily treated (or so I have been told) than male sub fertility so don't give up hope

sometimes this whole thing just takes a bloody long time. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it

Nappyhead · 07/08/2008 11:11

Hi everyone - hope you don't mind if I join too!

DS is 3 and we've been TTC DC#2 since May 2007. I'm 35 and have had the usual tests - all came back fine. I had a scan of all my bits - nothing wrong could be found at all. DH is going to the Dr next week (I've been nagging for MONTHS but he can't possibly imagine that he might have a problem!!!) He's convinced that because we had one child no problem, then it's just a matter of time.

It is really really getting me down now. I am 35. All my friends who had their babies when I had mine have now got 2 - some have 3!! I know I should be eternally grateful that I have one - and I am - but I SOOOOO wish that he could have a sibling.

I've done ov sticks, temping, charting. I really don't know what else to do. Any advice?

If DH's tests come back fine what's the next step?

xxx

Hi anniemac,

I don't know what my day 3 fsh was. The GP just told me that all my results were normal so I didn't think to ask.

What's the implication of it being slightly raised?

Did you have any difficultly TTC#1?

x

Hi anniemac and Nappyhead!

Nappy, it is too bad that so many of us are in this position - it creates a stress that permeates everything in a way, doesn't it.

Other measures that I have been trying - cutting out coffee and substituting with green tea (for its antioxidants). Trying to drink alot more fluids (including grapefruit juice now a la pinkmook). I have also heard that relaxation techniques like massage and acupuncture (I am scared of needles though) can help. One of RL friends suggested naturapathy because she knew people who felt it had helped them conceive.

annie - fsh levels are tested as standard when you see a fertility consultant? Or should I ask specifically when I get my initial tests done?

How's it going everyone? My monitor is stating "peak fertility" today and so dh and I are planning to be very busy the next few days ...

Serious question, though, for fellow fertility monitor users (Clearblue). Is it normal to jump from "low fertility" to "peak fertily" without stopping off at "high fertility" first?

Yesterday morning the reading was "low" and this morning it is "peak". Is that strange at all?

Any thoughts welcome!

I have a CB but I think everyones fertility is different. I would just go with what the monitors says. And remember, even when you get a peak ovulation could follow up to 2-3 days later

MamaMimi · 16/08/2008 20:52

Hello again all.

Was wondering if any of you applied for the freebie CB pg test?

I received mine in the post yesterday. Pretty clever, but the rrp is also expensive - not sure if I would buy one.

I'm on CD14 so it will be a while before I would try it anyway.

Does anyone have updates on their situations?

This is my BDing time so busy eve/nights!!

Pinkmook - since our cycles are similar thought I would ask if you are feeling positive this month. Ovulation occuring yet?

Hope the thread gets going again
