I know that I am really lucky - healthy dd conceived easily and relatively stressfree pregnancy etc. However, having no luck conceiving number two and I am starting to feel really down about it. We haven?t been trying for too long I guess but I really thought this time lucky. It was day 39 today and I was just starting to get my hopes up and think about buying that pregnancy test. So here I am with stomach cramps, full blown heavy period, slight temperature, moody and just plain fed up. Just had to get that one of my chest. Sorry. To top it off my dd is teething and waking through the night aaaagh.

Jaytree, know the feeling. Not about teething atm but about thinking it might be easy and then feeling down-ish when it's not. Much sympathy. Feel free to join us on the ttc thread!

thanks waterwitch - nice to know I am not alone - this website is a great source of support on those bad days even if they are relatively minor in the big scheme of things.

I fell for my DD1 straight away but it then took 9 months of active trying to fall for my DS1. I then fell for my DD2 the first month of trying. They call it "family planning" ... if only you could plan it that easily. I know how you feel JayTree ... hopes are being raised each month and then they come hurtling down.

A friend of mine had secondary infertilty - fell for her DD1 with no problem but then, after about 18 months of trying, still no pregnancy for second child. After being referred for treatment, she then fell pregnancy naturally about 2 weeks before her first appointment. She then went on to have an unplanned pregnancy when her DD2 was only 6 months, fell very easily with her DS without even trying.

Don't give up hope ... you will get there eventually.

Hi Jaytree, like you, ds was conceived v. quickly, I got pregnant very quickly a second time but had a mc. That was 14 months ago and nothing since. We have been trying for a few months and have had unexplained weight gain over the last two weeks plus a missed period. Yesterday I gave into temptation and did a test - negative. What a bummer. So why the missed period and weight gain (I actually gained weight on a diet so wasnt due to eating too much)

JayTree · 09/02/2003 22:11

Hi bunny2 - hang in there - next month may be different. At least that is what I keep telling myself... I am trying to stay positive and keep a lid on my growing sense of panic and my obsessive over-analysing about potential reasons for infertility, but some days are just a bit tricky! I guess life is just not that straightforward all the time!! Good luck next time. If you are like me, weight gain is a useless guide as I gain weight through water retention anyway. Double bummer.

I had a 33/34 day cycle this month so hopes were raised. DS1 is 5 months and after having first period, this is the first month we have tried. However, still disappointed as started to read symptoms as those of pregnancy when went over my usual 30 days.....
Hope this month is successful for us all....

Flippa · 23/04/2003 14:05

Any success stories? I am still here and am now into 5th month of trying. It seems like forever even though I know that it takes some people a lot longer than others. Would be lovely to hear of some more pregnancies to brighten the week up.

hana · 23/04/2003 17:01

here you go Flippa...did a test yesterday and got a positive! The hormones must have been really strong as it took no time at all ( hate hate hate waiting for the blue line to appear....) to show a result. Have never posted on Mumsnet before , but have been lurking for a few months and avidly reading any messages about ttc, pregnancy singns, etc etc. We've been ttc since January and are overjoyed to be pregnant again !! Our dd is 19 months old. Only hubby and I know yet, there's no way I can keep it to myself for another month and a half...(I think I'm about 5 weeks)
Lots of luck to those ttc here....hope your turn comes quickly....
hana

Congrats hana. We have also been actively trying since January so hearing your news really cheered me up. Take care of yourself.
