Has anyone else had this?

My cycle is totally regular, but on a two monthly cycle. So I have a 28 day cycle, then 35, then 28, then 35 etc.

It only bothers me because the long cycle is accompanied by horrible PMT symptoms.

Do you ovulate from one side, then the other in strict order? So would that mean that something might be wrong with one ovary?

Any thoughts very gratefully received. It is starting to worry me - I'm not in the UK, and haven't really got a GP so can't start there but if it is something potentially bad I could get back to see someone.

A normal cycle is a cycle day of between 21 and 35 days or with a variation of 4 days or less from month to month.

A woman does not ovulate from one side and then the other every month. It is a totally random process. It is also quite possible to have periods without ovulating; even women with regular cycles can have the occasional period in which ovulation did not occur.

If your periods keep to this pattern a blood test can be done to see what your hormone levels are like. A day 3 test to measure your LH (luteinising hormone) and FSH (follicle stimulation hormone) levels can be done; LH and FSH kickstart the ovulation process so these two hormones are very important.

I guess I should also get some blood tests. Fertility isn't the issue (it started after the birth of ds2) but the PMT every other months is horrible and I am worried that it might be indicating some worse problem.

Never look at the internet re health - I almost retained my defective gall bladder as a result of this practice. The there was the time I convinced self DS1 had leukaemia...
