Has anyone ever fallen pregnant on the implant?

I had the implant put in last year June after haveing my second child. I was told it was the safest to use as its supposed to be 99.9% affective. However lately I feel sooooo pregnant. I have dizziness and naseua, food cravings and extreme tiredness. I lost almost a stone recently and have put it all back on .

I have been trying to find some info on it and alot of people are having the same feelings. last night a swear I felt movement - and not like normal wind movement. I was completely freaked out. I did a test on Sunday which came out negative. I dont get my periods much at the moment so could not tell how far gone I would be if I was pregnant and have now read that after a certain time the hormone level is too low to be picked up on a home test. Is this true?

Has anyone gone through the same things, fallen pregnant on it or can any one shed some light on this....

Ive had the implant twice and got a lot of the sysmptoms that quite a few of you have described.

I consulted a doctor at the fpc whp explained that the symtoms can be very common especially in younger women who have yet to have children due to hormones.

Not bleeding whilst having the implant is very common and this should have been explained to you at the time.

As with all hormonal contraceptives, your body needs rime to adjust and get used to it.

No contraception is 100% but the chances of you becoming pregnant whilst on the implant are very small.

If your having problems, my advice would be to contact your local fpc who will be able to give you more info and hopefully put your mind at ease.

i have the implant put in 6 months ago because me and my OH had a few slip ups and i dont want to have a baby yet because im only 17. Ever since ive had it in i have been on my period everyday without fail. ive put weight on which is depressing me and im so emotional. i want to get it out but im not ready to be a mum yet and if i used other types of contreception like the pill and injection when im ready to have my own family it takes years to come out of your system. im stuck on what to do! can anybody advise me? :(

That's just not true, lishaloo. Many, many women conceive straight away after stopping the pill (or missing just one ). Obviously if you wanted to start a family and you were having contraceptive injections, then you'd need to plan slightly further ahead but we're talking a few months, not years.

You really need to talk to your GP (or Brook Clinic) about this. It sounds as if the implant doesn't suit you and I'm sure they can reassure you about the suitability of other methods.

i've had my implant in for almost 2 years recentley i've noticed my bobs have gone massive my stomach looks like a pregga belly & i've been feelin sick all the time i relli do think theres a possibility im pregnant or is this just side effects ?? im takin a test on tuesday buh from wat i've read on here its gna cum out negative soo is there another way to find out??

Hi can anyone help me please? I had a implant fitted in my arm in 2008.I had heavy periods but in december 2010 they stopped now i look like im 16 weeks preganant.My breast are sore and got milk. I also feel sick and dizzy.I went to the hospital for a blood test.Got told it could be IBS or im going through a change its slso in my head i need help. Iam 40 this is my 6th pregancy. But my 5th pregancy my baby was still born at 37 weeks that was 6 years ago on thursday.

There can be problems with the implant depending on who and how it was put in. Some were put in too deep to the muscle to work, and others not put in at all! If you can feel it just under the skin, and its in date, thats when the 99.9% comes in.

After 2 years of using I began to get very worried - boobs suddenly swelled, fainted a few times, was sick a few mornings. Took loads of pregancy tests over a few months and decided it was co-incidence, my mind was playing tricks or it was some kind of side effect!

I asked my doc to put me on the pill as well (Cilest works well with Implanon) to give me piece of mind. Means I'm not terrified if I miss a pill, and also not terrified of implant miraculously not working, Win Win :)

hey, can someone please tell me what sort of symptoms you get when pregnant (in the early stages) as i have the implant and think i may be pregnant and other than missed period i dont really know of any reliable ways of knowing if i am without a test :/ thanx

I don't know if i'm being a bit silly :/ but would like people to give me their opinion.

I'm 18 and I have the implant. It'a due to come out this November which means it would have been in 3 years. The last 2-3 weeks it started off with my boobs being really tender and sore, and in my eyes they seem to of got a lot bigger. It then went on to feeling extremely bloated and kind of 'pregnant' feeling. I've noticed myself going for a wee a lot more often and also drinking a lot more water than I normally would. I have had no spotting or bleeding, but have been getting sharp period pains every now and again, but I have not had a period in about a year. One of the biggest things I have noticed in myself is feeling extremely dizzy, not all the time but half a dozen times a day. I didn't think much of it until I started looking into it all.

Could anybody help????

I had my little one 9 months ago, i got the implant fitted soon as, every since i was constantly bleeding feeling like utter crap, crying and everything like i was still pregnant, gained so much weight on it, landed up on antidepressants, doctors will not beleive when you tell them its because of the implant taken affect on your hormones, i am away to get it removed and see if feel better then, my sister was the same she gained lots of weight ended up diagnosed with pnd like me and everything she got it removed, lost over a stone in no time, alot happier and has noticed a big differnce,

to be honest being pregnant is very slim, implant causes those hormones,
your best bet is to get it removed and try the injections or the pill.

so many people have this issue with the implant but its the hormones it is releasing. such a horrible thought knowing such a little plastic bar can ruin your life by making you so hormonal and everything!
Think doctors need to look into it as it is not right what they are doing to so many people.

hi girls, need some answers, can u get pregnant with the implant, i feel like i am, sicky, horrible taste in my mouth, weeing none stop, going off foods, feeling movement and my cats wont leave me alone, my kitten likes 2 lay on my belly and doesnt like it when my bf strokes her on it, done a test at my doc but wont find out til wednesday........just need some help xx

For the last 3 weeks I have felt pregnant, I have had the implant since December 2011, and haven't had many problems with it other than being on randomly since january 2013, like on for 4 days then off for 2 days then on for 5 days, then off for 2 weeks, its completely random, and its not even like a normal period, its like a muddy colour, and not pleasant, I went to the doctors in May to find out what was going on, they did a swab but there was nothing wrong and they haven't suggested putting a new one in, the last 3 weeks has been really weird.
I am 20 in september, living with my boyfriend of 18 months, just finished my first year of university, I am a size 6 and have never really had much of an appetite, i would rather eat little and often instead of 3 meals a day, but recently i have been wanting more food, i would eat a whole meal (i used to always leave something) and then within half an hour i felt like i need to eat something again so i try to eat something healthy like fruit or something instead of chocolate.
I have the worst mood swings at the moment, my boobs are sore constantly, when i am at home i take my bra off as it is just too uncomfortable, for the last 3 weeks i have felt like my belly has got bigger, not fatter or anything anywhere else, just a small round belly, (may sound silly but to me it does feel like there is something inside me) i constantly feel tired and drained, dizzy, i could literally sleep all day and all night if i could, i also can't stop weeing and my sex drive is basically none existent :(
Me and my boyfriend did a home pregnancy test last night and it said i was not pregnant, but i had drunk alot yesterday as it is warm at the moment and i know that drinking alot can dilute your urine causing the test not to pick it up. I have bought another one and we are planning on doing it on friday/saturday but I don't know whether to go to the doctors during this week to find out for definite, me and my boyfriend are very strong together and we are perfect for each other, after last night when the pregnancy test came back negative, we both said we were sad that it wasn't positive but we both know its not really the right time for us to have a baby, due to money issues, in september we will both be at university, studying for our future, we are very much maturer than most people our age.
I would love to have a child but i think it would be really hard for us to have one at the present moment in time. But neither do i think i could bring myself to have an abortion or give a baby up for adoption, i have suffered from depression and anxiety for a long time and wouldn't want that to get worse again.
I dont know what to think :/

I don't think a lot of people get pregnant on the implant but it is only 99 (ish)% effective so some women will get pregnant on it. Try not to worry too much it is very unlikely and you have had a negative hpt. I would recommend waiting a week and taking another test. If you still don't feel right head to your GP. People rarely come back to update these threads so they could just have had scares. Hormonal birth control can make your body think it is already pregnant so will give some similar symptoms and not necessarily the same throughout the time of use.

Ok, Iv been on the implant now for just over 6 months and I'm having all the pregnancy signs, Iv been pregnant before but I mc and I feel the same as I felt last time.. Iv heard and been told that your hormone levels can be too low to pick up pregnancy on a test but I haven't done one yet.. Iv been bleeding little bits for a few days then It was discharge now it's bright red and a few clots... Could someone inbox me or reply back to me if you've had the same and what happened please? Hello, I have the implant had it fitted after having my son in 2013 but lately being felling like I'm pregnant I've had a metal taste in my mouth, sickness, smell of food makes me sick etc I done pregnancy tests and got 2 positive but then 2 or 3 negative I'm very confused please can someone help

Hi I've had the implant for a year and a half we have 4 children and decided this was the best option but for 2 was now I've been feeling horrible sickness, shocking bad moods and really sore boobs anyway I've been doing tests for about a week and yesterday I got a faint line today's is looking the same but it doesn't show up straight away it's taken hours to get darker conception would have been at latest 28th June can anyone help please? I really need some advice I got the implant around 10 months ago I've had non stop bleeding, moodiness and weight gain although I have gotten used to it the problem I have now is I'm almost certain I'm pregnant I feel the exact same I did the first time I feel pregnant I know my body and I would be surprised to get a negative result I have done home pregnancy tests and they are negative but this is no reassurance as the last time I was pregnant I done at least 10 they where all negative and only when I had a blood test did I find out I was pregnant I regrettably got a termination which to this day breaks my heart but I am only 19 and I'm just not ready be a parent saying that I would never terminate again so you can imagine my worries.

I also can't feel my impant so I was wondering whether that could stop it working ? Has anyone ever got pregnant or is it really in my head? I'm going to the doctors tonight so wish me luck!

I've been feeling sick
Tired...to the point that I had to take a week off work to sleep. And earlier I went food shopping came home and fell asleep.
I've got sore beasts .
I've been super emotional...ANYTHING sets me off lol. I cried earlier because my mate couldn't meet me for a coffee haha
And about two weeks ago I had a few little spots of blood and nothing more.
I have definitely gained weight and in my eyes I shouldn't be, I go to the gym, eat clean and I've got a very round tum (not around the sides) and also when I lay down it's still there and when I lightly press on my tummy, from my belly button I can feel pressure where I push and there a hard bit. When I stand it also feels hard at the base
Everything right now is pointing to pregnancy and I "feel" pregnant.

I am on the implant, and have been for years and never had anything like this.

A doctor done a pregnancy test which was negative and just said "well it's rare to happen, the rest is negative so we will go with that"

Ive read stories about it happening, a lot more than I would of liked lol. I have done a few tests...all negative. I've spoke to one doctor and got the "oh that's rare to happen so doubt it's that" and that was it. I just don't know where to go from here and what to do!! Any advice would be great

I've been feeling pains Down in my abdominal area and kinda like strong period pains but I did a test but It was negative I thought my implant would stop any pregnancy from happening but now I'm starting to feel tired and I'm sleeping all the time I feel sick quite a lot and feel pulses on my stomach I've also put weight on as it's very obvious on me as ik only a size 6 and now gone into a size 10...someone lease tell me what wrong bcoz I'm very confused

If you're more than 3 weeks from conception, you'd definitely have a positive test. Give it another week or so and test again.

Otherwise, we hear about lots of people getting weird symptoms while on hormonal contraception.

Have a chat with your gp if you think you might want to change bc methods.

I had a still born last year October 2019 and I have the implant now in for 3months.
I started feeling nausea and tired. also having smell all these different smells is making me feel sick. my stomach has started looking more rounder and im nervous to take a test.
me and my husband wants to try again. but could I be pregnant already? as the implant does effect everyones body differently.
isn't it dangerous to fall pregnant while having the implant?
