Anyone ever conceive using contraception?

Ive had the coil in for about 6-7 months, and just had first period a 3-4 weeks ago, cos Im still bfing (baby is 12 months). Feeling v nauseous last few days and (tmi alert) a lot of clear discharge, which cwas defo a preggers symptom of mine. I know its VERY unlikely, but Ive a niggling fear.......

Afraid to say dewmeadow that my MIL conceived SIL when she had the coil. Mind you that was 34 years ago and I'm sure that things have moved on since then. SIL then conceived DS when she was on the pill....
Hope you get the outcome you are looking for.
Should it turn out that you are pg, if it's any reassurance, DS is entirely different at 22 months than he was at 12 months - so much more independent and very helpful, so I think you'll have a little helper at hand when LO arrives if you are pg.

I would say people definitely do get pregnant even with an IUD in. It might be worth a trip to the doctors to check you're okay though. I was always paranoid about ectopic pregnancies with my IUD as that's quite common occurance with an IUD...sorry if it's a negative message...but this actually happened to a good friend of mine.

Ive only had one period so it could be my body changing hormonally too, I suppose. I think the coil changes how your periods are, dont they? My natural AF is light and lasts 2 days - that period a month ago lasted 4-5 days and was much heavier. Think I might test, just to be sure. Been googling and now a bit concerned about ectopic.

hmmm it is general knowledge that it can happen....and you are a bit fertile aren't you! Were you up to things mid cycle?

Of course, I have the ordinary coil too, and seem to get caught very easily...out in a cold sweat

Maybe you need to use that persona thing along with the coil just to be safe.

What is the percentage of pregnancy with the coil I wonder?
