Really confused. No AF. 2 faint BFP 2 negatives. pain but no bleeding. any else had this?

as above, I am three days late, have tested 4 times had two faint positives then two negatives (different brands of tests). I am really bloated and have sore boobs and feel tired and sick. I have had no bleeding but have a sharp pain in my side. I am confused, what is going on??? Went to the GP in case it was an ectopic but he said the test was negative so couldn't be pregnant and to test again on monday if still no AF. Has anyone else had something similar to this?

your GP is wrong. you can have a false negative but you can't have a false positive afaik! so it looks like you could well be pregnant.
go and see a different GP, or see if you can self-refer to your local EPU

How can I self refer to the EPU? Should I wait until Monday to test again?

no, I think that 2 positives is a good sign, even if they're faint.
I would see if you can find a number for the EPU and just ask if you can come in and see someone or whether you need to be referred by a GP.

I agree - two positives is a v good sign!

It's not possible to self-refer to the EPU here (and they don't see anyone until at least 6 weeks pg) but yours might be different - definitely worth giving them a phone!

Monday you should see a more obvious test line, so I'd book another GP appt asap if you can't self-refer!

Your EPU will most likely be closed over the weekend, but you should keep a close eye for any of the following - increased pain (painful enough for you to take a painkiller, generally), bleeding, fainting or feeling faint and shoulder-tip pain.

If you have any of the above, go straight to A&E.

Don't panic though, it could be implantation pain or stetching ligaments and hopefully you will get a nice strong positive on Monday.

GP is completely wrong - you absolutely can be pregnant and have negatives, days, even weeks after your AF is due. I didn't test positive until 6 days after my AF was due.

Ring NHS direct and explain about pain and positive tests - they can probably give you some good advice about what's available in your area and I think (? not sure) they can even refer you over the phone.

Hi mermaid - I got sharp pain in one side practically as soon as was pregnant this time round - should have remembered it from my first pregnancy really, I could have saved money on the test! First time round I really worried it was a sign of an ectopic p too because it was always in the same side, but it turned out to be nothing, just stretching.

And I got a very faint positive because tested at the wrong time of day (not in the morning, too impatient!)

Not intending to worry you, but it's also possible to have an ectopic but, because the hormone levels are much lower than a normal pregnancy and can fluctuate, you could show a negative after a positive at an early stage. The advice from ectopic groups is that any woman who had had a positive test and is experiencing pain should be checked.

Having said that, serious, sharp ectopic pains are more likely at the 6-8 week stage rather than the 4-5 week.

As someone said, no such thing as a false negative. I recently had a very early miscarriage - positive test one day, bleeding and then negative test the next. If you've not had any bleeding then I'd say that's a good sign. Good luck!
