ok have just got results from my day 21 blood tests (22) i have been told this is too low...........
was wondering though, because i dont actually ov until day 20. so should i be getting these tests done 7dpo? (cd27) i have a 35 day cycle.

A result of 22 would show that ovulation did not occur that month. A result of 30 or more would indicate ovulation.

Progesterone tests are usually done around day 21 (its a standard test). It probably wouldn't have made any difference to the result for that month had it been performed a few days later.

They should also be looking at your LH and FSH levels early in your cycle (around day 3); these are important hormones as they kickstart the ovulation process. If these two are awry then ovulation will be affected.

It does not always follow that ovulation occurs two weeks before the start of the next period. Ovulation is not an exact science and it can occur earlier, later or not at all in any given cycle.

How long have you been ttc for; have you as yet been referred to a gynae?.

I assume that if you ov on day 20 and the test was carried out on day 21 you should be OK, but if you didn't ov until day 22 the test could have missed it, and another one should be done.

Following a non-ovulatory blood test result at my GPs I had another day 21 one done with the consultant this month. He said if my period hadn't started by day 28 I was to have another blood test in case ov was really late and the day 21 test was carried out before ov.

If you have a 35 day cycle, you need to be tested on cd28 as it is a common misconception ( no pun sorry!) that the text is 7dpo - it's actually supposed to be done 7 days before AF.

Ask them to repeat next cycle on the correct day. It should be >30 to indicate ovulation.
