What are the odds?

I just had a big fat negative this morning but am showing a fair few signs of pregnancy that I had last time.
Last time I came out with 2 negative tests and went to the doctor and the bloods came out positive.
What are the odds that pharmacy tests just don't work for me or am I just fantasising of the big fat positive

Are you waiting long enough to test? A few days of patience may bring a positive next time. Also, whatever the pack says, try testing early morning as the hormone does build over night and that way you get highest concentration if you're pg. I was convinced about a week after conception and shocked to get a negative result but reminded myself my period wasn't even due until the next week, then sure enough a positive. Fingers crossed for you!

I tested negative twice for this pregnancy before getting a positive (now 36 weeks). Admittedly one test was 3 days before my period was due, when I was already getting the first signs of morning sickness (a very distinctive metallic taste). But the other negative test was on the day of my expected period. Definitely recommend testing first thing (no matter what the tests say) and just being patient and waiting a few days, though it's so hard to do isn't it!

With my daughter I took it the first time the day my period was due and got a negative. 3 days later is was positive. How far into your cycle are you?

All tests were done first thing in the morning.
The complicated thing is that I don't really have a 'cycle'.
It just gets so expensive to have to keep testing.
Maybe I'm just being super hopeful.

It's all down to how much of the pregnancy hormone your body produces, and how soon. Not everyone produces a detectable amount as early as the box says you will. I am pregnant now, and used the super sensitive Johnson and Johnson one. But, it didn't say positive until my period was a week late. So it may just be that you haven't got a lot of the hormone in your pee yet. Wait a few days (I know, not what you want to hear) and have another go.

Do people on here tend to use 'strip' tests or the digitial ones ? I was always rather dissatisfied with the 'is that a bit pink' feeling, but thought digital plus / minus was a bit more useful when we were trying.
