Am I reading too much into these symptoms?

So my DS has only recently turned 1 and we've been exclusively breastfeeding. I haven't had a period since 25/12/25, so I have absolutely no idea where I am in my cycle or whether I'm even ovulating!

We had unprotected sex for the first time since having DS on 25 October, and now I'm driving myself a little mad trying to work out whether I could be pregnant.

On Tuesday (3 November), I had the most intense cramps. They lasted around an hour and honestly felt very similar to what I remember as implantation cramps with my first baby. They were quite sharp and uncomfortable, but gradually eased over the next couple of days. I've still had the odd mild twinge since.

I've also had a lot of clear, watery, slippery and stretchy discharge. I initially thought I might have ovulated around 29–31 October based on symptoms, but who knows when you're breastfeeding and haven't had a period!
I've now done a few tests and they were negative.

I'm now 13 days since we had sex, and I know it could still be too early, particularly as I have no idea when I ovulated.

I've also noticed a few odd things with food recently. Brie tasted really oniony at the back of my throat, and a hazelnut/chocolate cookie I would normally love tasted really unpleasant. Probably completely unrelated, but of course I'm now noticing every little thing!

I know symptoms aren't reliable, and I'm probably reading far too much into everything. I also know breastfeeding can make cycles unpredictable, and you can ovulate before your first period returns.
I don't even know what I'm hoping to achieve by posting this, other than perhaps hearing from other mums who have been in a similar position!

Has anyone fallen pregnant while breastfeeding and before their periods returned? Did you find testing frustratingly inconclusive at first? When did you finally get your BFP?

I'm so impatient to know either way! Not sure to be excited or scared rn… 😂

You will ovulate before your period returns - you ovulate, and if you don't get pregnant on that egg then you have a period. Just most of the time you don't know.
I was LH tracking before my cycle restarted so knew when I ovulated and got pregnant on that egg. However, personally breastfeeding made my luteal phase too short to sustain the pregnancy so I miscarried the same day I tested positive.
I suspect you are reading too much intobtue symptoms and would probably test positive by now based on when you had sex, but you won't know for sure for a few more days.
