Hi all,
We’ve been passively trying to conceive #2 this year. Couple months of serious trying and then more passively recently (we feel we’d be very happy as a family of 3 or 4).

Ive now had a total of 4 cycles where about 3-4 days after potential conception I start to feel very nauseous as well as a sharp pain on my right. This includes proper retching in the morning and aversion for things like alcohol (I like a glass of wine so notice it clearly). I then get a early positive pregnancy test and after feeling properly rubbish (including fainting / fatigue) a period that’s a couple of days late.

its honestly been exhausting, it feels like chemical pregnancies that I wouldn’t notice if I wasn’t feeling so bad.

I went to the GP and she dismissed my story saying it’s because I’m 36. I’ve managed some private bloods (which were fine except an iron overload issue) and had a scan due to the side pain which thankfully was clear.

Anyone had anything similar? I’m quite certain the symptoms aren’t “in my head” as they are so strong, but perhaps that is the case. I just feel frustrated as well about the lack of proper research in women’s health.

any tips/insights?

I was similar. I didn’t have any investigations, but lots of early miscarriages that I wouldn’t have noticed if I wasn’t testing. I suspect I was very fertile, but my body was miscarrying the embryos that were not viable. I had a pregnancy that stuck after 5 months first time, after 4 months second time (but I lost that one at 14 weeks), and then after 2 months. It was exhausting physically and emotionally.

Glad I’m not the only one. I was thinking similar. My first one was born first cycle. Me and my husband are both a couple years older now so perhaps that’s where the less viable embryos come in.

similar I’m very exhausted, makes me want to stop trying.

whats your situation now? Sorry you went through all that 💔

The first and third pregnancies that stuck are now two teens who are wonderful human beings.
I don’t think about it much now, but at the time it was heartbreaking. I opened up to friends about my miscarriages because it is so common for women to experience it. I decided to talk about it openly because I got quite angry about the secrecy around miscarriage. We are encouraged to keep quiet about early pregnancy in case we lose it, it’s weird really, if you think about it, because that is when we need support.

100% agree with you! It’s been really hard to find a support structure. My husband has been great thankfully and really helpful through it.

great about the two lovely teenagers :)

After 3 similar losses, my partner and I started taking the supplements recommend in the book It Starts With The Egg (a lot is aimed at IVF but there's a recurrant miscarriage section). Next pregnancy resulted in our now 10 month old! So I'm convinced it was egg/sperm/both quality causing my miscarriages. May be worth looking into. Good luck xx

Thank you! I’ll have a look!
