Hi

Having found out in the last few days my dh may have a fertility problem I wondered if anyone could advise if they have had IVF in Scotland and the costs involved.

Really just want some reassurance that it's not the end of the world.

Hi ,

I have pasted below a little of my story that I posted on another thread ...
We were treated at the Nuffield in Glasgow .
Cost about £4000 in total .
If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to ask .
Good luck and take care , I remember so well feeling that it was the end of the world...

Anyways Dh`s results were not so good 8mil and 7mil counts . We were advised to go straight to ICSI immediately to have any real chance.
We were told that they were not happy to do this on the NHS as DH had 2 kids already though I had none.
We were aware that we could challenge this and I would qualify for 2 cycles of treatment but would be at the mercy of the waiting list.
We are very lucky and could afford to go private straight away. (NHS consultants offered to see us within 3 days at the private clinic 2 miles away where they also worked - but on their NHS list could be up to 2 years- another story entirely) With hindsight as they knew what jobs DH and I had we now rather feel they were touting for private business in the NHS waiting room to be honest with you .

Anyway doesn`t matter now. I fell pg on first cycle of ICSI and am now delighted mother of lovely 3 yr old little girl.

So I just wanted to let you all know - it can happen and I really hope it works out for you . I will never get over the joy of being a mother !!

Must go as my little angel has her first cold and is not sleeping well !!

Good luck xxxxxxxxx

thanks for replying,

have just found out that the fisrt test came back with zero sperm so having another one tomorrow. Things aren't looking good at the moment but using a sperm donor is a possibility we are considering.
