Did you just know?

This will sound ridiculous but did anyone know they were pregnant instantly? I mean just have an instant feeling? It happened to me 9 years ago with my DD, I wasn’t trying to conceive, I was actually on the contraceptive pill at the time but something in me just knew that I was pregnant. Fast forward to now, I had the same feeling 5 days ago after sec with my partner. I now have twinges and slight cramps that I’m telling myself can’t be real and is all in my head! Is it possible to just know or am I crazy?!

Yes, all three times.

There was one month I just knew. Absolutely knew. Turns out I wasn’t. 🤣

You may be crazy but I can confirm that there are at least two of us!
I “knew” with DC1 the following morning. DC2, maybe a day later. Also “knew” their genders. I’m a pretty scientific person but have never been able to reconcile this with my absolute certainty.

Surely the way you reconcile it is by realising that many of the people (50% of them in fact) who felt just as sure as you about the sex of their baby were proved wrong.

I’ve been pregnant once and ‘knew’ with total certainty the sex of my child. Except I was wrong.

With all of the ones I lost I was sure and was right. With both of my children I had no idea until I took the test.

Oh my gosh, I’m so glad it’s not just me. It’s too early to test right now but I’ve only ever had this feeling once before and i was right. I’m telling myself it’s all in my head, I just can’t shake the feeling.

Can I ask how you felt the next morning and how you knew?

No, with 4 pregnancies I never knew.

Yes with all three pregnancies I knew I was pregnant which is why I then when on to test. Two of which were unplanned! It's strange how I knew but it was the same feeling each time!

Yes, both times, things "smelled" different

Immediately after, no. However, I woke up at 8dpo at five am with a desperate need to eat ham on dry toast and then I knew 😂

With DC1 I had no idea.

With DC2 I was absolutely certain even before I'd missed my period. I walked up the stairs and felt breathless, combined with that unmistakeable thirst, and yeah I just knew.

I keep looking online and it says it’s impossible to have symptoms so early but it sounds like a lot of people do 🤷🏻‍♀️

Having symptoms and “just knowing” are different things though. It IS impossible to have symptoms the day after conceiving because the symptoms are produced by HCG but that doesn’t happen until after implantation with takes 5-12 days. Progesterone also causes certain symptoms and this increases after you’ve ovulated but that happens every month whether you are pregnant or not.

Whether or not people can “know” in their head is different. In that way you’re going down a more psychic thing rather than scientific.

Literally like you just a feeling or a knowledge that I was pregnant. Nothing physical like feeling sick or sore breasts. I can remember the first time I was sitting on my bed talking to my friend and from nowhere this feeling/knowledge/thought occurred- I'm pregnant! I can remember the last time I was walking my dog and again it just occurred. I can't really explain it. It just came to me.

I don’t recall anything physical at all, just a gentle knowledge that I was pregnant.

Bear with me, it was nearly 29 year ago 😆, it wasn’t straight away but a few days after.
We had been ttc (and I hadn’t missed a period at this time) and I had this strange, almost metallic taste? in my mouth.
I brought a pregnancy test and it showed I was pregnant.
Unfortunately I miscarried a few weeks later.

I fell pregnant again shortly after and he’s now almost 28.
I went on to have another miscarriage then had my 2nd child, that odd metallic taste never came back.
