TTC late 30s

This cycle has been a minefield. Came off the pill beginning of the month. Yet to have a period, positive ovulation tests around the 7th. Pregnancy have been faint one day and negative the next so no clue what's going on. Meant to be having a camera down my throat tomorrow which they wont do if there's even the slightest chance I'm pregnant. Anyone else trying for a baby in their 30s/late 30s

I am! Just turned 39 and TTC for the first time. I've been off the pill for a few years but preventing other ways until this last cycle and it took a while for my periods to kick back in at the time but I was on the continuous pill so hadn't had a period at that point in a couple of years. Just got my period so having to wait for next cycle now. I wasn't expecting to get pregnant so quickly at my age, certainly not in my first cycle trying, but it's still disappointing on some level!

Have you taken another test? Maybe try a digital one as well. The uncertainty is the worst I feel, I didn't realise how much I'd hate waiting between ovulation ending and testing being viable 😅

Eggybreadwithnuts · 19/07/2026 22:25

Had my first at just 38...took ages to conceive. 2 years after having him turns out I had endometriosis which reduces you fertility so made sense...bear that in mind

This is exactly the same as me, got high LH strips and thought i ovu on 6th but no period yet, my temps didn't rise much, infact my temp has been all over the place with no sustained increase, testing again on LH strips to see if there is a second beak as i still have mild cramping and some fertile CM again now! All my preg tests are stark negative so def not pregnant! I should be somewhere between 14-15 dpo now!

i'm 41 TTC number 2, with one previous MC before my son (who i had at 38/39)

HarleyQuintina · 20/07/2026 14:00

Hi,
Same here. I'm 36 ttc after a mc. I'm only 9dpo but got what I thought was a vvfl yesterday and negative this morning. I guess it's still early but I'm confused as well.

Sorry to hear about the mc. I also had a vfl on a test friday and then negative this morning, it's so confusing

Tracking temp confusing me so never really bother. I usually just go on ovulation tests. Not sure on my dpo as had 3 days of positive ovulation tests

Took 2 years to convince my eldest as well. Not expecting it to happen quickly this time round. Just turned 38 so know that fertility can start dropping now

Ive just turned 38. Was on the same pill. Had positive ovulation tests just no sign of AF yet. I tested this morning and it was negative

@inkgirl thank you but hopefully this is our time fingers 🤞🏾. I still have a few days until AF is due so I'm hopeful and plan to go get a couple of cheapies.

SophieP89 · 20/07/2026 14:27

I'm 37 and we are trying for our 2nd. We've probably been trying for 3 years, 2 mmc last year and 2 chemicals this year. I've always been overweight but I have recently lost over a stone and I wouldn't usually ovulate until CD 23/24 but I ovulated CD 17 this month and I'm currently 6dpo. Lots of dull crampy feelings since yesterday, going to try hold out testing a bit longer as I'm usually testing as soon as I hit 8dpo 🫣😂

I’m 39 and started TTC for first this year - unfortunately I’ve just gone through an early MMC after getting first BFP. Waiting for cycle to return and can track ovulation again. First time using ovulation strips I conceived, so trying to stay positive!

Joining the thread. I'm 39, just got my period today after my regular as clockwork period was 8 days late. Not sure how I could go from regular 28 day cycles to 36 days so randomly but sitting here crying as it feels like an uphill struggle.

Welcome, sorry to hear your period arrived late. Hopefully it was just a one off. Are you tracking ovulation?

Thank you. No, but looks like I'm going to have to start. Also, issues with my partner having delayed ejaculation, sometimes taking 40 mins or never at all due to medication. 😥

Yeah it’s exhausting, temp should go up to confirm ovulation, so it looks now like I didn’t ovulate the first time my body tried this cycle and I’m about to ovulate again (or try) currently on day 34 or something of this cycle

never had this happen before I think just after coming off the pill! We shall see… all the tracking is def exhausting!

It really is exhausting. Ive been feeling pretty sick today, travel sickness has returned, slightly tender boobs, headache, back pain, just general aches and pains.

So I'm not ttc however I just wanted to say when I was 34 we had our first and we literally just decided we wanted a baby and I got PG after 1 cycle.

BUT when DD was 3 so I was 37 we decided to try again and it took 10 months to get PG, regular cycles tracking etc.

I also realised for me it takes 3 months for the pill to leave my system and periods come back!

So I suppose what I am trying to say is don't give up, good luck everyone ♡

Where are you this cycle? No period yet I assume, you might be the same as me and about to attempt another ovulation! Did you say you thought you had a faint line on a pregnancy test before? Have you tested again?

Not sure where I am in my cycle as came off the pill 3 weeks ago. Yea no period yet, no signs either. I did get a second positive ovulation test about a week after my 1st one so its possible.
Yea I had a faint positive last week and now they are negative

36 and TTC 1st child.
I have PCOS so didnt even think I ovulated much but I seem to be quite regular and cried my eyes out when I first saw a positive OPK!
Just finishing my AF so we're about to start round 2 of this journey. God it's exhausting!
We're of a mind set of if it happens it happens but the more it continues the deeper you get. Trying my hardest this month to not get too caught up in the TWW... Good luck all xx
