Anyone TTC number 2 in your mid-30s and fancy company?

Anyone else TTC number 2 in their mid-30s and fancy some company? 😊

I’m 35, have a DD who is just about to turn 4, and we’ve just started our first cycle trying for number 2.

I feel like we’d just reached the glorious stage of proper sleep, no nappies, actual conversations and being able to leave the house without half of the house crammed into a changing bag… so naturally I decided what our lives really need is a newborn 😂

I went very Type A when TTC my DD and turned the whole thing into a project - LH strips, BBT, supplements, special lube, the works 🙈 This time I’m trying very hard to be more relaxed and go with the flow. Trying being the operative word 😂

Would love some company from anyone in a similar boat: TTC number 2, mid-30s, slightly excited, slightly questioning their own sanity and trying not to symptom spot at 2DPO 😂

PS. Currently on cycle 1 and my fertile window is just about closing, so now entering the very calm and rational part where I definitely won’t analyse every bodily sensation for the next two weeks 😂🙈

Hi! I'm 33 with a 2.5 yo. Started ttc #2 a couple months ago. Had a chemical pregnancy cycle 2, just finished bleeding so back to LH testing to try work out what my cycle does now!

Hi, welcome! I’m so sorry about your chemical ❤️ That must have been really tough, especially so early into TTC number 2.
Hopefully your cycle doesn’t keep you guessing for too long now 🤞
Although back to LH testing immediately after the bleeding stops… you’ll fit in very well here 😂🙈 Please keep us updated on what your cycle decides to do!

No way, I am delighted to have company for the madness! I got my peak Wednesday night so I think i ovulated Thursday or Friday, how about you?

With my first I was so unbothered - I felt a bit funny so casually did a test at lunch in the work toilet about 5 days before my period was due. It was of negative so I genuinely forgot all about it and then realised on the Monday that my period was late and retested. I had it in my head that trying for a baby can take a year so that's what I was expecting, it was a simpler time.

Hahaha cycle sista! 😂 I suspect Thursday for me too, based on absolutely nothing scientific beyond CM and vibes 🙈 So we may genuinely be on exactly the same timeline!

Your first pregnancy story is killing me 😂 “genuinely forgot all about it”… imagine having that level of peace?! A simpler time indeed. Meanwhile we’ve already discussed our testing schedules and we’re about 3DPO 😂

Me! I'm 33, have a daughter who is almost 5 and we've been trying for 10 months. DD was conceived first month of trying so I'm losing my mind a bit that its taking so long.

Every month I tell myself I will be less obsessive and more relaxed about the whole thing but chilled really isnt my wheelhouse so of course I've got all the apps and strips and temp tracking going 😁

Also this heat is driving me insane because my last fertile window I was too sweaty and fed up to have that much sex and its looking the same for this window 🤣

I’m in a very similar boat! I have. 2 year old who was conceived first cycle and now on cycle 10 trying for number 2. Got pregnant first cycle again last year but had a MMC.
I am also very type A and cannot chill. I’ve managed to stop ovulation testing as it was making me obsessed but I have been slowly working through different fertility tests since cycle 6 because I can’t help but think something is wrong. Nothing found so far.

I'd love to join! DH and I are 36 this year, and on cycle 1 of TTC #2 (currently 6 or 7DPO I think).

DS is 2 years and 10 months - I've definitely felt a stronger urge for a second since he turned 2, but also quite anxious about the unknown (particularly disrupting sleep again), and the fact that i know DH would have been content with just one.

I feel like we're just dipping our toes into the TTC world again - only DTD twice during the fertile window, have used OPKs but not the whole BBT tracking, special lube, fertility cups etc yet.

Should be able to test around DH's birthday, I'll try and be patient until then.

CasualOverthinker · Yesterday 18:24

@Mortima Oh welcome! 😊 We’re very similar…cycle 1 here too and I think I’m around 2/3DPO!
I completely get the anxiety about disrupting sleep again 🙈 I think that’s the difference second time round… first time you’re blissfully ignorant, whereas now we know exactly what we’re signing up for 😂 Mine is nearly 4 and life has become suspiciously manageable, so naturally I’ve decided to shake things up!

Also “not the BBT, special lube and fertility cups yet” emphasis on YET. Give it time, you’re among enablers here 🙈

Everything crossed you get a very lovely birthday surprise for DH 🤞🥰

Thanks @CasualOverthinker , you're so right - eyes are wide open now!

I'm very glad to be among enablers, and to hear that life is manageable by age 4 😂toddlers are absolutely mental aren't they!

Thoughts and prayers to everyone who's been in their fertile window during this heatwave...I got lucky and managed to hit the few days where it was a bit more bearable towards the beginning of the month. Not sure I would have been arsed this week

CasualOverthinker · Yesterday 19:25

Yeh it hasn’t been the most comfortable when you are a sweaty mess lol! I am kicking myself because I think we didn’t time things right and also we didn’t do enough… ughh. I don’t know why I am like this though. I went from perfectly content and convinced im one and done to being like well…maybe! Let’s just gk wkth rhe flow if it happens it happens to now thay we are like doing and not just talking about it i feel like im running a military operation and just absolutely desperate for it to happen yesterday. Why am I like this?!? 😭

Hey 👋
Would love to join you ladies, I'm 37 and have an 8 year old daughter and we have been trying to conceive our 2nd for around 3 years.
Sadly had 2 missed miscarriages last year and have had 2 chemicals this year, last one being nearly 3 weeks ago.
I think I am going to ovulate early this cycle as I'm normally late ovulating around cycle day 22-24 but I am cycle day 15 and my OPK's are getting darker, not far off positive so maybe tomorrow will be my peak!
I haven't tried doing my BBT before as I know I will probably just forget 🤣

Fingers crossed for you all and hope we see some positive tests in the coming weeks 🫶

Hello to everyone joining!

@CasualOverthinker- We really are, yes! I started my testing this morning, with my previous one it was super faint in the evening of 4dpt (9dpo) but stark negative in the morning. Obviously that did not take the sting out of the negative this morning! I'm already £40 in on FRER! Just keep ordering morning 'just in case'.

Thank you! Rooting for you too!

Hey, welcome 😊 I’m so sorry for everything you’ve been through ❤️ Three years and so much loss is a lot to carry. I really hope this is your cycle 🤞🫶
It definitely sounds like your body might be changing things up this month if your OPKs are already getting darker! Fingers crossed for a peak today/tomorrow 👀
Please keep us updated ❤️ Really hoping we see lots of positives here over the next few weeks 🤞

@Orchid887 Oh nooo, of course knowing it was stark negative in the morning last time does absolutely nothing to stop the sting this time 🙈 Brains are so helpful like that.

£40 on FRER though 😭😂 At this point “just in case” needs its own line in the household budget! Everything crossed for this evening/tomorrow 🤞❤️ I am far too invested now so you absolutely have to keep me updated 😂

And thank you 🥰 I’m trying very hard to be normal about my own 2WW. It’s going exactly as well as you’d expect 🙈😂

ttc during a heatwave is just no 🥵🤣

@CasualOverthinker- At least I have Gemini to bug this time around, it's very patiently telling me it's fine in a multitude of ways!

I know.. as if I haven't just spent £3.5k on the bloody FET! Though I guess drop in the ocean? 😂
I absolutely will! It'll be morning and night now until I give up hope come Saturday.

"Trying hard to be normal" made me chuckle, I'm not sure I even bothered trying. 😂

Thank you 😊 The past 18 months have been very tough but I am feeling very positive now despite just having a chemical.
I have done an OPK today and just got a positive! Earliest I will be hopefully ovulating in forever, hoping it's a good sign 🥹

Oh the amount of times a day Gemini is telling me ‘yes, it’s totally normal to get a bfn on 10/11/12dpo and still get a positive the next day.’
I know it’ll just tell you anything you want to hear but it’s definitely taken some sting out of the bright white tests.

Just a little update from your resident oh-so-chill, go-with-the-flow gal 🙃

I didn’t track with OPKs or BBT this cycle and just went with Flo, which currently puts me at around 3/4DPO.

I’d like to report that the TWW has quite literally only just begun and I am already going slightly insane 😭😂 I’ve gone from “if it happens, it happens” to mentally calculating potential implantation days and wondering when I can reasonably start peeing on things.

Going with the flow is going really well, thanks for asking 🙃😂

Thank you. I'm trying to talk myself into thinking that if happened quick hopefully I'll get pregnant quickly again and hopefully that one will stick but it's been emotional. I had a tough pregnancy with first baby with bleeding so if I do conceive again I'll be a wreck.

I decided to LH test because there's a shift going on with my job atm which means if I don't conceive quickly it might mean I go from generous maternity package to statutory which sucks.

Also I know I'm going to be a bit of a mess so helps with dates. I don't want to hit CD30 and be like oh AF not arrived, maybe I'm pregnant, why am I getting BFNs when I should be 14dpo and getting all stressed out. Then actually I didn't ovulate until CD22 or something because chemical delayed it and AF not actually due for nearly another week because of that. Stops me getting my hopes up. Just as well as I'm on CD10 and my LH was still only 0.12 this morning!

@CasualOverthinker- Ahahah, staying true to the username! Me and Gemini have become little besties over this, honestly.

The TWW would make the best of us go insane. Honestly the only reason I think I survive is because I cheat and start on day 5.

It's amazing how quickly we become obsessed with peeing on things, isn't it? Like, I'd pee on anything and study it.

So far I did a test in the middle of the night, one first thing and one at lunch time. What is wrong with me?!

@Orchid887I am so with you re peeing on literally anything! Honestly I don't know what to do with myself on the rare days I don't need to pee on some sort of stick.

Really appreciate how much this thread is normalising all the behaviour I thought was just me being bananas.

Orchid887 · Today 19:50

@wfcats- I peed on a cheapie 10iu one today even though I knew it would be negative, since my FRER was, just for the fact of doing it?

Either you're not bananas at ALL, or we all are in which case you're in great company.
