Unexpected bleeding CD11

I've never posted before- or indeed tried to have a baby before- so please be patient!

Have had some weird bleeding and I'm not sure what it is. A search of MN has not yielded any answers. Help!

I came off the mini-pill (which had stopped my periods altogether) in May, hoping to conceive our first baby.
Had a normal period five weeks later.
Period finished on CD7.
"Practised" on CD8 and CD9
Yesterday was CD11. When I went to the loo in the evening I noticed I'd been bleeding. More than spotting and my knickers were quite soaked. I had been exercising though so, er, it could have spread things about a little! It was almost like I'd had a period but for only half an hour or so.
The bleeding had stopped by the time I discovered it but since then, and this morning (CD12), I still see very watery brown/red blood when I wipe (gah! sorry! Feels weird to be typing such things!).
I've also had mild, very low-down cramping.

I have had cervical erosion in the past which has caused bleeding. Would this affect my changes of conceiving?

I also wondered whether this was ovulation, in which case it's much earlier than I thought it would be, and also means that we didn't have sex either on ovulation day OR the day before. Bugger.

Sorry for the information overload but does anyone have any clues?

Thanking you kindly.

It could be implantation? Do you know how long your cycles are when you are not on the pill?

AttilaTheMeerkat · 25/06/2008 10:14

I would seek medical advice from your GP as the cause of such bleeding needs to be ascertained. It may be a recurrence of cervical erosion.

Thanks for your replies.

Pinkmook, I've been on the pill since I was 19 and I'm now 27, so I have no idea what a "normal" cycle is for me.
But I'd have to have a super quick cycle to finish my period on CD7 and have conceived by CD11, I'd have thought! Would this be possible? Would be ace if I'd conceived so quickly! Problem is I'm such a novice to all this, I've no idea what to expect...

Attila yes I think you're right and I should go to GP. Was hoping for an easy answer I guess... Do you know if cervical erosion would affect TTC?

I've had cervical erosion too are we are also ttc - I hadnt even considered that it could affect ttc - It was never discussed at gynae clinic when I've been treated - so Im thinking it wont - but would be glad to have this confirmed!?!

Joy - its more than possible to conceive on days 7-11 - if you stick around on these boards long enough you will see lots of women who were taken by surprise conceiving on those very days - you can ovulate early in your cycle - and - sperm can survive up to 5 days inside of you providing you have the right type of cervical fluid going on at the time! So if you practice CD8/9 then Ovulated any day from then up to day 14 then Yes, you can conceive that quickly! Wish it would happen to me

This is a new and exciting world for me- so many different things to get obsessed by, sorry, think about!
Would be well chuffed if it had happened so quickly, though I won't hold my breath...

Terrier I've been googling (I know, I know...) about cervical erosion and it doesn't seem to affect chances, so hurrah.

Thats good news! Good luck! X

Right, sorry to bump this up again but I'm worried now- still haven't been to docs though, as I'm a bit scared.

Since I wrote the original post on CD11, I've had spotting every single day and then on CD 17 a full-on, (TMI alert) very very dark bleed, so much so that I had to wear a tampon overnight and one today (CD18).
I've lost all misguidedly hopeful thoughts that I might be pregnant, in fact don't even mind if it takes a few cycles to conceive. Would just like to HAVE a normal cycle and understand what this bleeding is.

Just to recap, I came off mini-pill in May (which had virtually stopped my periods) then four weeks later had CD1 of first cycle, in perfectly "normal" fashion. It's only since the end of this first period that things have gone awry.

Is this just my bod re-adjusting do you think? Or should I just shut up about it and go to the docs?

I would go to the doctor for assurance, but be prepared to hear 'It's your cycle sorting itself out'. I have had spotting throughout my cycles - first when I came off the pill and then again in the cycle following a miscarriage - although I've never had a proper bleed mid cycle. Best to see your doctor. Good luck!

AttilaTheMeerkat · 01/07/2008 13:40

Please go to the doctor asap to get this checked out further.

BTW don't be fobbed off by them perhaps saying "its your cycle sorting itself out". Bleeding like this has a cause (cervical erosion being a possibility).
