How do you conceive if you do not have frequent sex?!!

Hi

Not really into sex at all! prob have it about once a month on average.

However, we have decided to try for another child

We had unprotected sex on sunday when I bang in the middle of ovulation, and plan to have sex when I am ovulating, but will this work?

Do we have to shag like bunnies until I get pregnant.

Last time when we conceived dd we only had sex 2 or 3 times about 3 days after the end of AF (thinking we where safe as we where not trying for babies!) but 6 weeks later a BFP!!

We weren't at it like bunnies but did it on one of my ovulating days (tracked by fertility friend) and now I'm 9 weeks preggers!!

Of course it's possible to get pg just having sex omce a month in the middle of your cycle, but to be honest I'd try and put a bit more effort in if it's what you both really want! Once every other day for abouit a week around days 12-19 should vastly improve your chances. Like oopsadaisy said, look it up on fertilityfriend for your approx most fertile time.

If you really don't fancy a bunk up get some ovulation sticks, they will tell you exactly when to have sex.

Remember though once PG and especially when the baby comes you will probably not be wanting sex for ages, so maybe make hay now while the sun shines and store some intimacy up with your DP for the dry months/years to come!

Last time I looked, once every other day for a week was about 3 or 4 times. If your maths is that bad you're probably having sex even less frequently than you thought...!

The last time I conceived we only had sex about 3 times in the month, with the winning deposit being made 3 days before ov.

Frankly it is totally random... in each of the previous attempts (I forget how many, 7 or so, maybe) we bonked a lot around ov and nothing happened.

I do think that the best thing is to have sex every 2-3 days throught the cycle so that you don't miss any opportunity. I was very surprised when I got pregnant the last time.

Just for the record. I do ADORE my dp, just have a VERrrrrrrrY low sex drive.

plus with a 2 year old dd, 2 dogs, 2 horses, full time job and a family business to run, sex is sort of the last thing I want to do, but obv need to have sex to have baby

I still vote for ovulation sticks, they worked for me and, I later discovered, most of my friends!

Fair enough - like I said, just being nosey - didn't mean to offend. JUst sounded like having sex was going to be a bit of chore, that's all.

Funnily enough, the only time we have found it a chore is when we were ttc dd2, which took well over 2 years. It had a very bad effect on our sex life as it became mechanical and stressful.

And the best sex we've had is in the past few years, after we made the decision not to have any more children and dh had the snip. It's much more 'recreational' now.

Tell me about it belgianbun - DH and I are ttc#1 and I just wish my libido would come back! We're lucky if we do it once a fortnight at the moment - we're both very stressed about work and money, so I know why things have gone off the boil, but I just want to feel real desire again, not be going through the motions He is gorgeous-looking and a very considerate lover so it's not like I've gone off him (thank God! - and I know how lucky I am), but I find it really hard to "get going" at the moment, iykwim...

Just a follow up to let you know that after one attempt I am pregnant!
